Summary: Did not buy this printer from Amazon. Bought it used. Just bought about 20 cartridges from Amazon as they don't last long. All of a sudden it won't print. After researching on-line and trying the code sequence to straighten out the print head, it appears I need a print head. It costs more than I paid for the printer ! Canon website offers no help ! Going in the garbage tomorrow morning ! First, and LAST Canon printer I have ever owned !
Summary: This printer is very fast with black-and-white text documents, and pretty good for reports with colored charts and graphs. It's really designed for photo printing, and has a variety of useful features that let you print directly from the camera's memory card - no need to turn on the computer at all!
Summary: I have two of these printers and I find them to be high quality, dependable printers with crisp clear pictures, vibrant colors. Both low maintenance, with easy-to-follow instructions for performing cleaning / deep cleaning operations with occasional alignment of print head. Contacts of the print head do need to be checked cleaned periodically, as these can become dusty/dirty over a period of time, causing streaks, missing areas and overall shoddy appearance of printed...
Summary: I bought this printer in mid-2003. It has worked very well for me. Unfortunately, it is now messing up like some of the others have described. The pictures look very dull. I've deep cleaned and changed all cartridges, but they still have a dullness to them. I have done a lot of printing on this machine over the past few years. I just wish that it would have lasted longer. I agree that it eats a lot of ink. I can't count how many cartridges I've gone through.
Summary: We've had this printer for almost two years. I do a good amount of printing, both color & b/w. While I do need to do cleanings more often with this printer, mine is not sucking up ink at an unreasonable rate at all. And it is very affordable. Photos don't always print well... the only photo paper I have found to work well with my S530D was very the glossy trial pack that came with it when I bought it. No other photo paper has done well at all, so I suggest theirs.
Summary: I have had this printer for more than a year. At first, it was a great printer. Not anymore!! It uses up ink like no other, yes, it is great to have the individual tanks(which is why I bought the thing) but now the print head isn't working right. Do several deep cleanings and use up nearly all the full tanks up, and the problem is still there. The pages have splotchy black marks and the texts are only partially printed.
