The BJC-50 is a rugged, reliable workhorse with low cost of ownership!
4 April 2013
Summary: As a road warrior, I used a BJC-50 for over ten years, because it is small and lightweight. It was always reliable and durable. The battery still worked when I started using a BJC-80, mostly for the sheet feeder. The BJC-50 only does one sheet at a time. It has now become of more use to me than the BJC-80, because of size and weight issues when traveling by air. So I'm going back to the BJC-50, which with a USB adapter works great even in Windows 7.
Summary: I was looking for a printer that would printer from a DOS program that I still use.(Because it is better than any other program I have found) I had several HP printers and they always stopped working for no apparent reason. I thought I would try a different brand and so for it is doing just fine. The only thing I don't like is that it does not have a paper tray and you have to feed it one sheet at a time.
Summary: I needed a small portable printer for travel to print boarding passes, flight info etc. and inexpensive if lost or stolen, this printer fills the bill perfectly. It is small compact, can run on on board battery and the print quality is great. No real negatives except it is a bit dated, but who cares. The Canon design people thought this one through very well. The printer takes two cartridges one color one black and white for maximum life.
Summary: This is one of the few printers available that allow you to print with no strings attached! Battery power that allows you to print without a power cord. The battery lasts long enoug to print for more than two hours! Infrared connection allows you to print wirelessly WITHOUT being connected to a network. The color quality rivals that of any photo-quality inkjet printer. This printer is tiny enough to fit in your briefcase right next to your laptop.
Summary: No review for this printer because I do not know how it works...it did not come with an AC adapter, Li-lon battery or anything to connect printer to my computer and laptop (which is why I bought the printer because I need a portable printer). I have been trying to get items from Accurateitservices and Ebay since the beginning of July 2010. The problem is still not resolved as of today (8/4/10)...So I bought a totally useless printer. I cannot even rate it.
Summary: The printer functions beautifully. It would have been nice if the seller had disclosed that this particular Canon printer requires a very specific (one generation) cable or IRDA. The cable is hard to find and expensive. However, I did get the IRDA to work and the seller allowed me an extra week of warranty while I worked to get the printer working. I would buy from this seller again but I would ask more questions in the beginning instead of relying on the description.
Summary: I have in the past purchased for my own use in traveling, a BJC 50, a 55, and an 80. I like the smaller ones for compactness. This BJC 50 prints well but is very slow, which may be the infrared connection which I always use. I will check it further. I like the fact it runs on battery and uses infrared so there are no cords to bother with.
