Pretty good - and cheap.

  • Summary: Comes with no AC adapter, and no batteries. I suggest either 6x AA batteries, or an AC adapter (Official: Brother model #AD24, DC9V 1.6A) (UnOfficial, but printed on the PT1880 itself: DC 7-9V 6W which would mean 1A should be good enough)
  • Pros: TZ tape folds in back, easy to peel off for sticking.
  • Cons: As mentioned by someone else here - it's wasteful on tape unless you hook it up to the computer via USB and use it as a "printer." So you would probably want a more expensive labeler if it would save you 1" of tape, 30,000 times for all the labels you print. But if you only print occasional low-v...

Wasteful and requires manual cutting to get desired label

  • Pros: good print quality, fair no. of features
  • Cons: Unlike other Brother models I've used, this one insists on wasting a full inch of leader on every label (and the same on a trailer, unless you override that). Even if you adjust the trailer length, it still puts the wasted leader on the front, then adds dots to tell you where to MANUALLY cut off ...

  • Summary: I recommend this product to everyone that needs an easy labeller. It took a few times to figure things out, however, order an extra tape so you can experiment. Fun to use, too.
