User Review

IBuyCoolers, Walmart
24 November 2014
  • Summary: Good print quality and durability. However, not as good as previous models. We use many many of these every day at work. This model does not seem to last as long as the last model. The drum and toner must be replaced more often. That aside, we buy these 2-4 at a time for the office and print hundreds of thousands of pages.

Excellent Printer

Assistant, Staples
6 November 2014
  • Excerpt: As a Receptionist/Assistant in a law office my printer gets a lot of use. I use it for letters, envelopes, checks, labels and many multi-page documents. It's very easy to set up and use and it's very efficient. The feeder tray makes it easy for me to change from regular copy paper to bond paper. I just set the bond paper on the tray and it feeds from there. No need to change out the paper in the drawer.

Broke after 2 days

Shelley, Staples
9 October 2014
  • Excerpt: Cannot even explain how disappointed I am with this printer. After 2 days it was no longer working. Called Brother tech support and they tried to trouble shoot it and they could not fix it either nor could or IT department. All lights were flashing but no reasoning as to why it wasn't working because all lights were on and kept flashing after trying every possible solution.

  • Excerpt: Great printer. Would have given it 4 stars, but it gives out at 50K copies. Then it's time for a new one.

Affordable and Solid Printer after Firmware Update

Steve, Amazon
15 August 2014
  • Summary: After my nine and a half-year old cheap basic Brother printer started jamming a lot, I decided it was time to replace it with a model that had Airprint and duplex. Since my house was wired with gigabit Ethernet when constructed, I don't need wireless capabilities and this seemed like a solid choice at such a good price (which was even a little lower back when I bought mine). I was able to print from all our devices (three Mac computers, two iPads and two iPhones) easily.

Google Cloud Print feature does not work.

Jonathan Mayer, Amazon
22 July 2014
  • Summary: I have two big problems with this printer: 1. Even though this product advertises "Google Cloud Print" compatibility, this device is not "Google Cloud Print Approved" by Google. Additionally, the GCP feature does not work for myself and many other users (attempts to enable the feature results in a "Internal error" message from the printer).

Instructions on how to reset low toner warning light

Golfer, Amazon
6 June 2014
  • Summary: I previously used the Brother HL2240 laser printer and it worked fine but I have to print about 100 pages per day and felt like the cost of paper with duplex setting and lower cost per page with the 5450DN was worth the switch. So far after 3 months of use, no problems. It prints the first page within 12 seconds. Subsequent pages are faster. When in duplex mode, it will suck the page back into the duplexer even if you're only printing one page.
