Summary: I've had this printer for about 3 months and so far have had no complaints. We're pretty light users and probably only print about 100 pages a month (if that). However, I do really like that the printer is fast, the quality is great and the duplex printing is awesome. I hate wasting paper so the ability to print double sided is really appreciated.
Summary: While this printer works well and the print is nice, and it is reasonably fast, especiually for it being a very low cost laser printer, it does not have a network connection. In order for it to be shared by other PCs on the local network, it must be done so thru the host PC that this printer is plugged into (USB connection). While this works out, it requires that the host PC be up and running in order for the remote PC to be able to use the printer and actually print.
Summary: Brother HL 5340D High Speed Laser Printer The printer is working very well. Shipment was prompt, "assembly" of the unit very minimal. Print quality is excellent. I purchased it from Amazon and was pleased with the price and shipping detail.
Summary: The printer is really fast and prints duplex nicely. It was very easy to set up and its noise level is good. One thing though is that sometimes, there's small errors in the printing, e.g. a small grey spot in the middle of the picture (barely noticeable). But because I use my printer mostly for printing papers to read for myself, as well as for tests for class where super-high quality is not necessary, this doesn't affect me.
Summary: I've been an HP printer buyer for 20 years... not anymore. Having had it with built in obsolesence in the HP line, dating toner so you can't stock up and use it later, expiration of printer services, I decided to give this Brother a try. The ease of setup was great - plug and play. Strange that it had no connection cord, but I've got plenty and hopefully I saved a few bucks by them not making it a part of the package.
Summary: I am an accountant and use this printer in my office for general printing, check stock printing, and label printing. I print around 1,000 pages per month. I have had no problems with jamming or other printer errors, which is always a blessing when printing checks and labels. Print quality is great. My only complaint is the way it handles envelope printing. You can adjust the printer so it doesn't wrinkle envelopes, but it still causes them to curl.
Summary: I like this printer for the price. I am happy with the features, including its fast speed and duplex ability. As for the printing quality, it is not quite as good as my HP printer. The fonts seemed a tiny bit compressed, sometimes the dot on the "i" would be too close to surrounding letters. Not awful, but certainly not "camera-ready" for publishing purposes. And, with jpeg files in Word documents, curves would not be as smooth as with my HP printer.
HL-5340D LASER 32PPM 1200DPI LGL USB PAR 16MB DUPL PCL6
16 March 2010
Summary: be sure to load the driver that comes with the printer. it''s much better than windows 7''s generic driver.
a rather tricky deal to print envelopes. you need to open the back panel and fiddle with some levers to do it right. otherwise envelopes come out somewhat wrinkled. worse, the way to do this is not explained in the manual.
Pros: excellent printer for the price. auto duplex, 300dpi to 1200dpi, and many multiple options like 2 or 4 or...even 25 s on a single sheet of paper.
Cons: the first comes out rather slowly. and no instructions to print envelopes. lastly, at 16MB, maybe a bit shy on memory.
