Summary: Our old HL-5240 worked great for three years and then died suddenly and completely. Plenty of newer more capable printers & printer combo's out there but adding up the sunk cost of three brand new HL-5240 cartridges waiting in our cabinet to be used makes the decision easy.
Summary: Just unpacked and set up the printer. Initial results on 8 1/2 x 11 sheets are great. Excellent quality, good speed, setup went without a hitch. Unfortunately, no matter what I do it mangles #10 envelopes fed through the manual feeder.
Summary: The printer works as well as one might expect for a desktop printer; fairly fast; copies are crisp-looking and clean. My mediocre rating is for its poor envelope-handling ability. Envelopes come out heavily creased. The support document tells several things you can do to fix this.
Excerpt: This printer is nice, but nothing too special. Firstly, what's most improtant is that (for the most part) it does it's job relatively well. It's of a nice aesthetic design and can be relatively compact in comparison to some other models I've had the experience of knowing.
Pros: speed, easy to use, clean design, double sided printing function, manual and verbal support
Cons: a tad expensive, a bid blurry, not the best for colours
Summary: the printer ordered was HL 5240L but I received the HL 5240 when I informed the seller they were very helpful and asked if I wanted to keep it and as I needed a printer I said I would keep it.
Excerpt: Brother HL 5240 Most of my printing is done at work and I do print a considerable amount of letters out each day doing the referrals from the surgery. Not only does a single letter have to be printed out but also the patient summary from the system which can sometimes be 30 or so pages long and...
Summary: Although i am generally happy with the performance of this product i cannot believe the noise level it generates when printing. I upgraded from an HL1030 which i have had for 6 trouble free years, hence the reason for opting for another Brother machine.
Excerpt: General & price: WOW, what a brilliant printer this is. Another great laser from Brother. I have had this printer for quite a few months now. I bought it for around £150 but the prices come anywhere between £140 and £220 from verious online retailers or some high street stores.
