Summary: I've owned this printer for more than 10 years, and it's been impressively good and reliable through that time. I even have it hooked up to the network (using a usb-ethernet adapter from monoprice). Note, however, that I wouldn't buy this model any more, it's out of date. I'd move up to the HL5340D at least. The reason it's not 5* is this: it seems to have a problem with printing colored content, it always comes out way too light.
Summary: I hate to waste paper and seldom need color so this black only Brother laser that prints on both sides meets almost all of my needs. You will have to go to a second screen to click on double sided printing. I plugged it in, Windows Vista, Windows 7, my Linux ASUS netbook, and my Mac all found the printer automatically and printed with no problems. Now if the damn web designers would limit their information to just 2 pages and not 2 and a little bit more I would be happy.
Summary: I got this printer in August 2006 to bring to college with me. I print out articles and papers almost every day, and I have not had to change the toner since I bought it. The toner-replace light has been flashing since the end of my sophomore year (May 2008), but the printer is still printing just fine. Such a better value over ink, which you have to replace MUCH more often. The printing speed is fast and the quality is great.
Summary: I'm no expert when it comes to image quality -- so my comments would be of little value to a "demanding" user. I've had this printer for a couple of months now -- so far, so good. It's very fast, the duplexing mechanism is very good (it has jammed once), and the quality is quite good for printing technical manuals, proofing manuscripts, etc. Setup was quick, and the setup wizard actually worked (though an experienced user could probably skip it).
Summary: This printer has been performing like a charm for about a year now. I suspected that it would, since I had great luck with a Brother MFC-P2000 years earlier. Updated: It's been at least another three years with this printer, and it has been working like a charm. Updated again: 2014 -- is that another four years already? -- and this thing runs like the day I bought it.
Summary: This is an EXCELLENT printer! It never jams or curls the paper. I can send document after document double-sided and am extremely pleased with the print quality. I consistely print books from 150-350 pages at one time. It was extremely easy to install to both my laptops as well. I highly recommend this printer!
Summary: You can't beat the 5150D for value. For under $300, you get a very fast printer that duplexes (can print on both sides of the paper). It starts up quick, and prints crisp text and decent graphics. The driver allows you to print multiple pages on the same sheet, print watermarks etc. I've been using it for moderate office use for a few months have have loved it. It does eat toner quickly, so be sure to have an extra toner cartridge on hand. Highly recommend!
