Summary: I have always bought Brother oolor laser printers so I am not complaining without knowing what I am talking about. The brother website [...] states that the toner that comes with it has a yield of (1) TN310BK Standard Yield Black Toner Cartridge (2,500 pages). In less than a month of use, I am at 526 pages and the Black toner is already low. Are you kidding me ! At 25% toner is low?
Summary: I bought this printer a little over a year ago, partly because of all the good reviews. It's been a lemon since the day we got it. I wish I'd returned it immediately. After printing less than 300 pages, the belt unit went out. It's a $150 part. On a $300 printer, there's no way I'm going to shell out that much money on this piece of garbage. I called tech support after emailing them.
Shame on wasteful Brother - Expensive to replace toner

Summary: This printer prints great until the toner runs out. This did take 6 months, which was pretty good. But don't think you are going to find a low cost solution to keep this printer going. Genuine Brother toner costs about $350 for the 4 colors. I tried lower cost toner and they have proven to be an utter disaster. Unusable. The low cost yellow toner would not work. Bought a replacement, it also would not work. Broke down and bought a Genuine Brother yellow toner.
Summary: I purchased this printer from Office Depot on 9/23/2011. I printed since then only about 500 pages. Printing only occasionally but on 3/25/2012 (6 months) I got an error message "Printer Unable 70". Contacted customer support they asked me to perform a series of steps but no fix. Finally they indicated that it needed to be sent for repairs. I took it the following day to the shop.

Summary: Paper handling has been an issue for printers, copiers since the beginning of time and this printer is no exception. 25 pagers per minute, duplex printing! Great, only problem is none of that means a thing if you are using gloss paper, and I'm not talking card stock here. If you try printing on gloss paper a little prompt comes up that tells you to use the manual feed for gloss paper. You've got to be freaking kidding. That's why you buy a color printer.
Summary: The real insult is after cracking open one of the high yield cartridges, the cartridge still had about 3/4 of the toner in the cartridge.
Pros: Great as color printer--until you need to replace the toner. You are better off buying several printers and throwing them away when the starter cartridges are spent.
Cons: The starter toner cartridges lasted longer than the High Yield cartridges. We got close to 1000 pages with the starter cartridges. When replaced with the High Yield cartridges ($337 w/ shipping) we only got 500 pages before the printer refused to print more pages.
Landfill Nightmare! Early Demise of Toner Cartridges!

Summary: Paid $299 for this printer just under a year ago and now, with light home use, the low-toner warning is coming on. The original Black toner cartridge is supposed to be good for 2500 pages, the color: 1500. I print an average of 15 pages per week, (maybe 750 so far) and rarely use color. There is no way that I am anywhere near 2500 pages! And now what? Do I pay $189 for new toner cartridges, $326 for high-yield replacements that may or may not be high-yield..
