Summary: I wish I could give this negative stars. I bought this printer in 2009. From the beginning, it failed to measure up to its hype, and eventually developed into an evil genius that would always come up with a way to prevent me from printing.
Summary: Under no circumstances should you buy this printer - or IMHO any printer from Brother. It is massive, requires expensive toner and, most importantly, my unit burned up which filled my house with smoke. Brother's "customer service" was initially fair but quickly became laughable.
Too Expensive to mantain! Can I give Brother International 0 stars?

Summary: I've had this printer for a couple of years. The drum life is ridiculously short. Ink is very expensive. If one color is out, the printer will not work at all! You'd think you would be able to print black, especially if you haven't selected print all colors to get black.
Summary: I purchased a Brother HL-4070CDW about 8 months ago and have had nothing but problems with it. It jams over 50% of the time. I use weather proof label paper, card stock and 20 weight paper. Every paper I've used has jammed.
Summary: It's pretty well documented here that this printer's system of toner replacement is extremely bogus. However, specifically with the HL-4070CDW printer, it's really easy to get your money's worth out of the toner cartridges. Buy a second set of cartridges as "spares".
Summary: Great printer. Just one major deal killer. This printer is part of a class action law suit filed in New Jersey earlier this year (2010). There are several other models listed. This printer will force you to replace all cartridges when one of the cartridges goes out.
Summary: The original toners for this printer lasted for more than two years. We bought 4 new ones (it takes black, blue, red, and yellow) for well over 300 dollars, and expected them to last over two years. They lasted less than a 6 months.
Summary: We have owned the Brother 4070CDW for over two years and it has not been a pleasant experience. At first glance this printer is a good value, however it has several major drawbacks, including poor printing quality.
Great for the life of the warranty. Died after 4 years

Summary: This printer's not bad, for about the first year, while it's under warranty. So if you're looking for a printer for a year, and then to throw out, this may be the one. After that, forget it. It now frequently jams, and prints smudges all over the paper.
Buyers beware - works well briefly, then trouble ensues

Summary: As a graduate student, I was looking for a reliable printer with duplex capabilities to print hundreds of pages of articles and cases while minimizing wasted paper. I purchased this printer approximately two years ago, lured by the (relatively) affordable price and positive reviews.
