Summary: I wish I could give this negative stars. I bought this printer in 2009. From the beginning, it failed to measure up to its hype, and eventually developed into an evil genius that would always come up with a way to prevent me from printing. The startup time was always about 1 minute, and when a page finally began to print it gave off an atrocious stench, and duplex printing took about 3 minutes to print one double-sided page.
Summary: The purchase of this machine was a total disaster. The Brother 4070 CDW is one of the best printers ever, but when this one arrived, it was poorly package, had a cracked corner on it and the toners were jammed against the top of the machine. A small plastic part was also broken off. Do not order from this man he does not know how to pack a delicate printer of this kind.
Summary: Great printer. Just one major deal killer. This printer is part of a class action law suit filed in New Jersey earlier this year (2010). There are several other models listed. This printer will force you to replace all cartridges when one of the cartridges goes out. It is a shame that a reputable company like Brother and Amazon even allow this to remain on the market. We are on our third complete set of cartridges in just over 4000 pages.
Summary: This is by far the best printer I have ever owned. It is fast, reliable and is packed with GREAT features. My favorites are duplex printing and of course, COLOR. I am also very impressed with the long lifetime of the component parts, and the estimated 2500 page lifetime of the toner cartridges. Replacing and refilling toner cartridges is inexpensive and remarkably easy too.
Summary: I bought this printer three years ago and have changed all the toners at least twice, so I have done quite a bit of printing with it including 1-sided B&W and color, and 2-sided B&W and color. The reason I bought it was because it was a color laser printer that prints duplex on a secure wireless network. The good: Ease of setup - the instructions are thorough and well illustrated. It's not very complicated to get it operational.

Summary: The original toners for this printer lasted for more than two years. We bought 4 new ones (it takes black, blue, red, and yellow) for well over 300 dollars, and expected them to last over two years. They lasted less than a 6 months. We don't do any more printing now than we did two years ago, maybe less. Now we got a message that we needed the yellow toner. Bought one, installed it, and the light came on again saying we needed the red one. Then the blue one.
Summary: We have owned the Brother 4070CDW for over two years and it has not been a pleasant experience. At first glance this printer is a good value, however it has several major drawbacks, including poor printing quality. -The genuine Brother toner tends to leak out of the cartridge and spill all over the printer. I have contacted Brother a dozen times about this issue and to their credit they sent me a couple new cartridges after verifying my purchase of the cartridge.
Summary: As noted elsewhere here in the reviews (especially in the ONE STAR reviews) after using for two years and ONLY 2600 Color copies, I get the message to replace the toner cartridges. Note that they are printing just fine. The real problem is that YOU CAN NOT PRINT with this message showing. Here are the steps to take to get back to printing. // /////////////////////////////////////////////// HL-4070 CDW TONER CARTRIDGE EMPTY PROBLEM Turn Power On.
Great for the life of the warranty. Died after 4 years

Summary: This printer's not bad, for about the first year, while it's under warranty. So if you're looking for a printer for a year, and then to throw out, this may be the one. After that, forget it. It now frequently jams, and prints smudges all over the paper. I have cleaned it following the instructions on the site to no avail. How do I know this is model specific, and not just mine? A client of mine has the SAME problem with the SAME printer.
