Summary: I wish I could give this negative stars. I bought this printer in 2009. From the beginning, it failed to measure up to its hype, and eventually developed into an evil genius that would always come up with a way to prevent me from printing. The startup time was always about 1 minute, and when a page finally began to print it gave off an atrocious stench, and duplex printing took about 3 minutes to print one double-sided page.
Summary: The purchase of this machine was a total disaster. The Brother 4070 CDW is one of the best printers ever, but when this one arrived, it was poorly package, had a cracked corner on it and the toners were jammed against the top of the machine. A small plastic part was also broken off. Do not order from this man he does not know how to pack a delicate printer of this kind.
"Too expensive to operate and maintain. Do not buy it."

Pros: Prints color duplex on a variety of paper stocks.
Cons: The cartridges are expensive. You will be paying the original cost of this machine each year just for cartridges. Life of machine parts is short. I spent as much of the machine cost just on parts and service in the past year. No service from Brother. You
Pros: Not a bad product but crippled by trying to get support and especially for Macs
Cons: Calling the Brother Support line starts with "your support comes from Canada" and degrades from there. No one to answer calls and no escape from queue jail. I spent all day trying to get someone to talk to and when I did they said "sorry don't do Mac" but
Pros: cheap. Comes with demo cartridge - smaller than normal number of prints. Fool it by covering sensor port and reset page count. Toner out sensor is very wasteful. buy a new printer for the cost of toner
Cons: Network setup is a pain. The Utility software clunky The Vista drivers dont work. W7 drivers do work. Thing has been off line for so long , finally now online just to have paper tray continually Jam. Manual feed is all we get now. LEMON!! Get a HP .
Summary: Great printer. Just one major deal killer. This printer is part of a class action law suit filed in New Jersey earlier this year (2010). There are several other models listed. This printer will force you to replace all cartridges when one of the cartridges goes out. It is a shame that a reputable company like Brother and Amazon even allow this to remain on the market. We are on our third complete set of cartridges in just over 4000 pages.
Summary: This is by far the best printer I have ever owned. It is fast, reliable and is packed with GREAT features. My favorites are duplex printing and of course, COLOR. I am also very impressed with the long lifetime of the component parts, and the estimated 2500 page lifetime of the toner cartridges. Replacing and refilling toner cartridges is inexpensive and remarkably easy too.
