Works pretty well

Christopher M., Newegg
15 March 2009
  • Summary: Overall it was definitely a worthwhile purchase!
  • Pros: Starts printing in an acceptable time, prints multiple pages quickly. Manual duplex is handy. Toner still shows full after months of use.
  • Cons: First one came with a serious defect that prevented paper feeding. Brother set me up with an (unfortunately) refurbished model, free of charge. Color isn't amazing, but is acceptable if you aren't printing photos. Fairly loud, but most laser printers are.

Great Printer! Great Price!!

Joey W., Newegg
28 October 2008
  • Summary: Easy setup. Vista recognized right away. Mac also recognized right away. I am sharing this printer via Windows Printer Sharing with my wife's MacBook Air with no problems whatsoever.
  • Pros: Great printer. Not as loud as our DELL 3000cn. Prints fast and clean.
  • Cons: None so far. We'll see how the toner lasts and then report back.

Great SOHO Color Laser

Farokh K., Newegg
24 October 2008
  • Summary: Got this at a great price. So far, no complaints.
  • Pros: Great color quality. Built-In Networking. Includes full (standard, not high-capacity, but NOT starter) toners.
  • Cons: HEAVY. 60+ pounds. Much heavier than my older Samsung CLP-300.

Great Buy

Anonymous, Newegg
17 October 2008
  • Summary: No more dried up ink when I go 3 weeks between printing
  • Pros: Great printer, check some of the other reviews for some quick tweaks on the settings to get the best results. Good speed to the prints and the toner won't destroy the wallet. Network interface makes for a simple process to share with my laptops on the home router.
  • Cons: Lift with your legs, this thing is a beast at 65 pounds and a shipping weight of 73 pounds doesn't win any points from your delivery guy. 64 MB is a bit light in the memory department, worth dropping the extra $ on putting a 256 MB in the machine.

Excellent

James B., Newegg
19 September 2008
  • Pros: Excellent color laser for a decent. It's not a great photo printer, but that's not what it's for.
  • Cons: Only reason it's not a five star is that it's a bit noisy and clunky sounding, but no problems yet.

amazing for the price, I paid

Irwin S., Newegg
6 September 2008
  • Summary: you must always pick enhance blacks, when ever your printing pictures, otherwise the blacks are to light; you must alway pick enhance grey if your going to print greyscale, otherwise the greys come out pinkish
  • Pros: got it at the sale price, with free shipping, so basicly the printer came for free, and I only paid for the CYM & K regular sized toner cartridges
  • Cons: Brother does not provide a color profile; you will either need to have photoshop manage the colors, or make a custom profile. I used colormunki to make mine.

Frank G., Newegg
28 August 2007
  • Pros: Prints out great. Have not yet got any complaints from employees. Would say it is great for office use due to Network-ability
  • Cons: Toner not the cheapest, but worth it.
