Summary: Overall it was definitely a worthwhile purchase!
Pros: Starts printing in an acceptable time, prints multiple pages quickly. Manual duplex is handy. Toner still shows full after months of use.
Cons: First one came with a serious defect that prevented paper feeding. Brother set me up with an (unfortunately) refurbished model, free of charge. Color isn't amazing, but is acceptable if you aren't printing photos. Fairly loud, but most laser printers are.
Summary: No more dried up ink when I go 3 weeks between printing
Pros: Great printer, check some of the other reviews for some quick tweaks on the settings to get the best results. Good speed to the prints and the toner won't destroy the wallet. Network interface makes for a simple process to share with my laptops on the home router.
Cons: Lift with your legs, this thing is a beast at 65 pounds and a shipping weight of 73 pounds doesn't win any points from your delivery guy. 64 MB is a bit light in the memory department, worth dropping the extra $ on putting a 256 MB in the machine.
Summary: you must always pick enhance blacks, when ever your printing pictures, otherwise the blacks are to light; you must alway pick enhance grey if your going to print greyscale, otherwise the greys come out pinkish
Pros: got it at the sale price, with free shipping, so basicly the printer came for free, and I only paid for the CYM & K regular sized toner cartridges
Cons: Brother does not provide a color profile; you will either need to have photoshop manage the colors, or make a custom profile. I used colormunki to make mine.
Summary: This printer is exactly as described and very easy to set up on a network, very good with Mac o/s as well as Microsoft. (2 discs included 1 for windows 7 and the other for Mac os & windows xp etc).
