Summary: This is one bad ass printer. I purchased it for my business in 2008 and it's still trucking along with no problems at all. I would highly recommend this printer new or used to anyone that does a lot of printing and needs clean/crisp looking print at a great price.
Summary: The machine came packaged very well, unlike my last attempt to purchase one of these units. It works fine except for the manual feed tray - when I try to use it, the printer does not grab the paper; it just makes a noise and refuses to load the paper. Other than that issue, it works as it should.
Summary: First of all, do not (DO NOT) buy the off-brand cartridges for this printer. The low-yield (1000+ pages) ones that originally came with this lasted us with daily usage for over a year. Second, the off-brand ones we bought had really bad coverage around the edges and solids had streaks through them.
Summary: A Really good printer! I highly recommend this to anyone with a small business. While its not perfect, it does perform really well! I use this printer for my photography business; not to print photos, but for printing envelopes.
Summary: I bought this printer in Nov 2009. At first I was fairly happy with it. I had to readjust my color settings to get it to print at an acceptable level. After a few months, I got this annoying dot running through everything in the same place horizontally. I looked online trying to find a solution.
Summary: I purchased this Brother HL-4040CDN printer for my office. Initially, I loved it because the print quality was excellent. In fact, I purchased a second one for our front office. This was a serious mistake! I should have waited a little longer before investing more money in Brother equipment.
Summary: Dollar for dollar this printer has more features than any comparable HP but the color won't impress anyone. The colors are muddy at best and at worst smear down the page, new cartriges don't seem to help.
Summary: We bought this printer because using an inkjet printer in high desert country is hard. My cartridges would dry out faster than I could use them. I even put them in plastic bags when I knew I wouldn't be using the printer for a while. This new printer works great. It prints clear and sharp.
Summary: This printer worked great for a while. Then the cartridges started to "leak". I thought, at first, that it was one badly manufactured cartridge, but it's happened with every cartridge I've used. I've bought several cartridges and they all seem to have the same problem.
