Summary: Review first published to MyMac.com This innovative printer employes Light Emitting Diodes in place of a laser in the Xerographic process. Although Brother makes no such claims or promises, this new technology should lead to lower power consumption over a longer useful in-service lifespan. The 23ppm print speed and a print resolution of up to 600 x 2400 dpi give very credible results on inexpensive copy paper.
Excerpt: We replaced our Brother 3170 after it began to show problems with fusing of ink to paper. Since I was going with the same model, I expected an easy set up. Wrong. The wireless set up was difficult. Luckily the instructions and use of enclosed disk corrected the problem. We had to reinstall the print drivers and software. We also had to hook it up with a USB cable at first to let the network recognize the printer.
Excerpt: I bought this printer to replace my HL-3070CW printer. Very similar accept this printer does auto duplexing which is really convenient. It is somewhat quieter than the previous model. First page out is a little longer than I would like, but the quality of printing and speed of multi page docs is fine. The price of this printer on sale was less expensive than purchasing a new set of OEM toner cartridges. Bottom Line: Great printer with decent quality.
Summary: Nice printer for home use and the price was quite good. It is more compact than the other two older Brother laser printers (4100 series) that I have. I like the features including double-sided printing, a manual tray and WiFi capable. It prints well for text, but not quite so well with pictures. I didn't buy it for printing photos however. It was a bit challenging to set up with WiFI, but I was eventually able to work though that with my router and the printer.
Excerpt: Purchased this printer from Staples at a Great Price. I currently have a Black and White Brother Printer and it has been great. Have not had to change the drum which is great and had over one year and used over 10 cartiridges.
Summary: At first I thought I had an issue with this printer as each page when printing duplex (double-sided) would get stuck. It turned out that the surface it was on was not flat and caused the issue. Now that I moved the printer to a flat surface, this printer prints color duplex super fast and on point. I love it. A few small issues that caused the 4-star rating as opposed to the 5-stars.
Summary: This is my first color laser printer. It's not a multi-function device (ie, fax, scan, copy & print). What I like about this printer is that it 1) has duplex printing (ie, can print on both sides of a sheet automatically), 2) is a relatively affordable color laser, 3) has auto detection of whether a document is b/w or color and prints from the toner cartridges appropriately (not wasting color toner for a b/w document unless you ask it to), and 4) has wireless capability...
Excerpt: Delivery was on time. A bit heavier than I expected. Unpacking was easy. The premilinary setup for just the printer itself (1st 5 pages in setup guide) is easy. It was a bit hard to get the "yellow" tabs to slide to the left/right, they were stuck, but eventually slid as expected. Lots of internal packing to be removed.Remainder of the installation depends on whether you need usb &/or wired &/or wireless.
