Summary: It's a solid replacement for an inkjet for me. The colors are solid but not spectacular. If you're not tweaking every bit of performance out of your inkjet this will actually work better, but it's really not well suited to printing photos.
Pros: Easy to connect, no problems with wireless configurations, plays well on the network. Powers up pretty quickly, and serves as a solid printer for our house. I like the fact that I'm not wasting ink since we go through spurts of using a printer with lengthy times of rarely printing. I like the fact that it can duplex well.
Cons: As most reviews will tell you, it works great on standard printing tasks. I wouldn't be using this for full desktop publishing work, nor for printing out high quality photos (which is what W*lm*rt or Shutterfly are for), but for standard home and office use this is a solid printer.
Excerpt: So far this is a very nice printer. It prints fast and printing begins almost immediately from any computer on my network. The colors for normal print jobs are bright and bold unlike my tired old color laser from another manufacturer. It prints from iPads via AirPrint a feature that I really like and which is very intuitive. Now for the downside. My main computer is an iMac with the latest OS (Mavericks) installed.
Excerpt: Works great from both of our Macs - inexpensive B&W and Color printing. This is the 2nd one of this model I have gotten - one for home and one for my business. I wire this printer into my internet router and print from my wired and wireless devices. Fast printing - would recommend!
Excerpt: I am very pleased with the print quality in this printer. Like all home printers ( inkjet or laser) it does have some very slight horizontal banding visible on some photo images ( at least when printed on plain paper) By and large, though, the photos look really good. One thing you must do is to set the color settings in the print dialog box to "Vivid". Otherwise, the colors are very dull.
Excerpt: This is a great printer for the money. It prints color documents that look great on many different types of paper. The manual feed can be tricky, and sometimes you need to try it twice. Normal printing is real fast not much waiting here. If you are looking for a great printer at a great price this is it.
Excerpt: I bought this printer because my OKI Laser Printer broke and I need some color prints fast. Also, because my OKI was so outdated that OKI did not have drivers for Windows 8.It's a nice printer however, not the same quality as my OKI. My OKI was a true Laser Printer. The print on the Brother comes out like an ink jet. But I really can't complain because the price was great. The printer does duplex, prints very good. The printer is small doesn't use very much space.
Excerpt: I purchased this printer to produce 2 sided legal size full color church bulletins. I had been using Xerox Phaser 8650 printers, but the print quality had deteriorated. The Brother printer produces crisp accurate colors, no streaking or smudging and no dropped color stripes. The print speed is slow, comparatively, but acceptable given the lower purchase price. The printer is considerably quieter than the Xerox Phaser.
