POWER HUNGRY

steven B., Newegg
18 September 2015
  • Summary: Not stated in description but really, really needs an electrical circuit of its own. POWER HUNGRY, especially during power-up.
  • Pros: Does a reasonably nice job of printing. easy to live with sound levels while printing. Has done good work for me with little fuss.
  • Cons: Seems to use ink much faster than spec's would have you to believe.

I'm happy to say that Brother's customer service makes up for ...

Lisa Dillon Barfield, Amazon
21 August 2015
  • Summary: I have had this printer just shy of 2 years. All of a sudden the dreaded streak that many of these reviews talk about was present, about 1" from the left margin. Figured I'd have to dump the printer but called Brother and they are sending out a tech, on-site, free of charge to fix it.

Great solution for low-volume printing

Tom, B&H Photo
11 August 2015
  • Excerpt: I print about 20 pages per month ... diagrams for my work, hiking maps, recipes, no photos. I have long since given up on inkjets because they invariably jam with such low usage rates, so they are too expensive to run.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Fast Print Time

Excellent warranty support

Clifford R., Newegg
2 August 2015
  • Summary: Brother had me check the number of pages printed (2500) and extended the warranty without further question. In 2 days, I received a new (refurbished, but looks excellent) printer. I moved over my old cartridges, packed up the old printer shell, and sent it back without any expense.
  • Pros: A nice, fast color printer which does duplex and works without needing an attached computer to be turned on. No more mucking around with inkjet cartridges trying to get them unclogged. The warranty was extended 5 months without any hassle to replace the fusion unit.
  • Cons: Questionable fusion unit. After 17 months the printed paper started coming out "embossed". The coating on the fusion roller was flaking off which caused indentations on the paper. Internet searches show this to be a common problem. Crossing my fingers that the new fusion units are better.

Great Printer

Randy Cutts, Amazon
25 June 2015
  • Summary: Bought this printer about 18mos ago. I was tired of inkjet cartridges drying out because I didn't use them every day. Had zero issues getting it set up and ready to use. My first test for this machine was printing the IRS tax instruction book(B&W, double sided).

michael d, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought it on sale at an Office store for 200 bucks. Photo output is just barely ok, but for a home, small office this is a nice machine. For a few dollars more the store warranty where I bought it, if it breaks, it's replaced. By Brother, no third party hassles.
