Great color laser. Quiet, boots up fast. Prints forever.

Summary: I was wallowing in the world of pricey ink jet printing for years. I came across the cheaper color laser crowd only recently. I knew I needed Apple AirPrint support and found this Brother. It's great! It's quiet, works with AirPrint and works with my wireless network flawlessly. It powers up quick, prints clear and sharp, and is quiet. It's also not overly LARGE. I also like the color prints. Splurge for glossy laser paper and it looks even better.
Summary: If you don't need a scanner or copier, this is a great, cost-effective printer. Set-up was a snap. The toner cartridges are very easy to deal with (much easier than the ink cartridges in my old ink-jet.) Wireless set-up was also pretty simple (one thing to be aware of - when installing the driver, be sure to select "bonjour" if you want to use wireless.) The print quality is at least as good as ink-jet, and the laser process "fixes" the ink on the paper.
Summary: Now, brother has a bit of reputation for being a little confusing on the setup , and while they have gotten better on this, the problem sitll lingers a bit. Not the most intuitive of setups, and the software from their website doesn't clarify much, there's about 6 different programs available for d/l, and you're never quite sure which one you need to get this done.
Excerpt: I purchased this printer from Office Depot at a good price and so far, I am fairly pleased. I needed a color laser for the occasional printing of color CD labels and inserts. The inserts need to be printed on stiff, heavyweight paper and so I feed the paper through the front port of the computer, rather than from the paper tray.
Pros: Good Value, Easy to Use, Fast, Quality, Easy to Set Up, Performance
Summary: A bit tedious (and had to visit several websites to get it figured out, cursed a lot) to set up for a "cloud print ready" printer. (At least it didn't require a second computer to set up). Feature I like best - goes to sleep instead of turning off between uses - don't have to go in other room to turn on.
Summary: Once running, this thing is very good and excellent value. But for me, setup for WiFi was very difficult (> 1 hour), and certainly not helped by the hopeless instructions. That's the reason for the missing 5th star. My old Netgear router does WPA, but NOT WPS (which enables automatic setup), even though the stupid Brother installation software thought it did. So if you have ordinary WPA security on your WiFi, but not WPS, do it this way.
Summary: I've only had this printer for a couple of weeks but the color is good. It was easy to set up and it's quiet and fast. This is the third Brother I've had they seem to only last two or three years. Hopefully this one will last longer.
Good printer, but takes some effort to set up as wireless printer

Summary: It is a very good Color laser printer, printing is fast, the quality of color printing is great, however, it take some efforts and some creativity thinking to set it up as a wireless stand-by printer. The operation panel is not that informative to non-IT savvy, neither is the manual.
