Decent replacement for the older 3040, takes same toner.

Summary: This replaces an earlier model that simply quit printing with any kind of accuracy, but I had plenty of toner left and it was compatible. So far it's been lovely as a replacement. I do lots of labels and special finish papers for cards and it's handled all of them besides the mundane printing of everyday stuff from both our Mac and Windows computers.
Great printer. Everything I hoped for when I bought it.

Summary: I got this about 1.5 years ago, and we've pumped through almost 5000 pages, mostly B&W. I'm very happy with it. Black & White text looks very professional and crisp. Color is great for graphics. It's not a photo printer, though. But it's not intended to be. But I'm still very happy with the quality of the color images. It works great on my wi-fi network, but my GF was having a few problems, so I plugged it directly into her computer with USB.
Summary: Have tried to install this printer wirelessly and can't get it to work wirelessly with Mac OS 10.7. The installation disc comes with an outdated program that you can't use on the new Mac OS. You have to go to Brother's website to get the new drivers and instructions and they make no mention of being able to install it wirelessly. I've searched the web and tried everything I can think of and can't get it to work.
Summary: Just purchased this printer at a box store (coupon for 20% off - one day only). Price worked out about the same as from Amazon, except I have it now instead of waiting for shipping. Normally I shop around for more than the 1 day my wife gave me to source a printer, so I went with this model based on price point and Amazon reviews. The not so good - Installation - My wife and I are not tech support geeks, but were not stupid either.
Summary: If you own a Mac and have an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule, follow these instructions for a super easy wireless installation: 1. Follow the instructions in the manual and when you get to Confirm your network environment on page 23, choose the "Configuration using the SES/WPS/AOSS" instructions and skip to page 39. 2.
Summary: Received this printer 3 days ago from Amazon. Right now it is connected to two desktops via USB cables and a USB switch. It is also connected to my laptop via the wireless connection. Both USB and wireless set up was a breeze. It did, however, take several hours of fooling with the settings, of which there are many, to get color prints to my satisfaction. Color reproduction is not perfect. But then I don't believe I ever saw a color printer in this price range that was.
Summary: This printer is a perfect addition to the home, for people that are not looking for glossy photo printing. This printer gives you a long-term home printing solution without the headaches that ink based printers have. The only issue I have discovered, is that when using wifi, it tends to loose connectivity after going to sleep and needs to be power-cycled before use. This issue does not occur when connected via wired Ethernet.
Summary: Tired of buying ink cartridges for ink jet printers. Cartridges seem to dry out before getting the stated number of prints so I decided to try a laser printer. Great laser printer for the price. Use it for home use only and no problems so far. A little bit of a problem setting up the wireless feature. The print quality of documents is fine but photo quality is not as good as ink jets printers but it is adequate.
Summary: This printer is a good bargain for the price, and great for home or small office use. It prints good quality color images rather quickly. Setup via USB cable was straightforward and easy. The printer appears solidly made, and is rather heavy. I like that it has a built-in straight-through paper path option, for handling heavier stock. However, connecting this printer directly to a network can be challenging, especially a wireless network.
