Excellent

Kevin N., Newegg
14 March 2013
  • Summary: What a great printer for home or small business use. We use it for our home and the print quality is great. The accessibility is great. Wouldn't mind if it was wireless, but there are easy ways around that.
  • Pros: This price is amazing. Built in network interface (wired) for easy network use without having a print host. Great print quality. Warm up time is acceptable (about 40 seconds). We've had this printer for a year now and the toner lifetime is impressive. It cost's about $40 per toner cartridge to re...

jammed and wouldn't clear

Marcellus I., Newegg
27 June 2012
  • Summary: I use a decent multipurpose paper, 20#, 92 brightness that I have used for years in my office.
  • Pros: decent color quality, reasonable footprint for what it is, price was good, drivers loaded fine
  • Cons: the unit had a several paper jams within the first few days of ownership, and then one that once the paper was removed would not clear the error code. This was to replace a printer (another make) that I had a similar problem with that had gotten past warranty. Decided if it jammed in the first we...

Half way there...

  • Pros: Prints fast once it is on. Decent looking color. Price isn't terrible considering reliability of Brother and speed to first page out.
  • Cons: LCD didn't work when it arrived, still prints fine. Whenever it's on my APC battery backup switches on (transformer buzzes intermittantly). I have seen the B&W models come with rf chokes on their power cords, and it makes me wonder why this didn't. If it weren't for these two issues it would be f...

A solid machine that does the job

Ian C., Newegg
6 April 2012
  • Summary: I have no regrets about buying this printer. It replaced an HP inkjet that was slow, costly, and had a low print quality. I would recommend this printer to a friend. The printer is fairly large and heavy (look at the specs) so it may not be the best choice if you have limited space.
  • Pros: It prints quickly and the quality is comparable to high-end laser printers that are much more expensive. The printer is pretty quiet, and goes to sleep and wakes quickly. I mainly print, scientific journal articles, many of which contain color images. For my purposes, it prints wonderfully. Full ...
  • Cons: This printer does not have an automatic duplexer. On OS X Lion, it takes a bit of menu jockeying to enable toner save mode. To enable this, from the print dialog, select Print Settings, expand Advanced, Select Toner Save Mode, and then click to enable Toner Save Mode.

  • Summary: the ink is worth as much as the printer what the EGG!?
  • Pros: It prints. :D Still waiting to find out how much ink it guzzles.
  • Cons: If it was not for the deal don't buy this printer its an old school design out dated imo.

Great printer

Bruce S., Newegg
24 March 2012
  • Pros: Easy setup in Win7 for a peer-to-peer network. From all of the previous positive reviews it seemed that this is a fairly high-quality printer. I did not expect razor-sharp imaging from the LED lasers. While not photo-quality, the printing quality of this printer is just fine. It is better than th...

  • Summary: We bought this printer because my wife and I both are in college. We have gone thru 15 reams of paper 7500 pages so far. I have replaced the Black toner cart once. The printer has promted me to replace the black a few times however I just use the reset trick and it keeps on printing.

Works like a charm

Jonathan L., Newegg

  • Summary: The toner comes in black, yellow, magenta and cyan, and each are $40. How this printer ships for $150 and the toner costs $120, it's beyond me, but I'm elated with the price!
  • Pros: We got this printer for our office where we anticipate a moderate amount of volume being printed. We are using it to print labels, flyers and packaging/shipping information. The software was easy to install on every computer and the picture quality is sharp. We are very happy that we no longer ha...
  • Cons: I downloaded the linux drivers from the Brother website and haven't gotten them to work yet. However, I am not an advanced linux user and I haven't spent a whole lot of time trying to figure it out. I'm confident the linux drivers work if you know what you are doing, and I have yet to figure it a...
