Summary: I like this printer's performance, but the toner issue is ridiculous. It's out of toner constantly, and we don't print very much. Toner isn't cheap. Most recently, it wouldn't let us print anything in black and white because the yellow toner was low. Spend your money elsewhere.
Summary: I have 2 Brother printers, neither of which works right. One came slightly damaged (the front panel is bent and does not close properly), and could not get it fixed or replaced. And forget about customer "service". You can try - but there is no way you'll actually succeed in speaking to someone at this thieving company. Stay away!!
Summary: Had it for a couple years, still on the starter toner pack. I think maybe a few packs are getting low on ink, but I'm not sure, since I used the method to reset the counter on it that I've read on google. So it's worked out great, the pages look great and it prints pretty quickly. It's tough too since my cat likes to jump on it a lot (he thinks it's a step stool to get up to another part of the desk), and it still works fine.
Summary: This printer is a nightmare to get to work on Ubuntu. I contacted Brother concerning this and all they do is point you to a printer driver page. Check the web virtually no one is getting this printer to work on Linux.
Summary: I have had this printer for over a year with no problems. The cartridges do not have much toner in them but I have found a local print cartridge shop that can refill for less money. The quality of print is good for business use. No real maintenance to speak of. I keep it off until it is needed and this will preserve its life greatly. Cons: small toner cartridges, and does not give you the high-res photos I would like.
Oh Brother, Is This Printer A Giant Rip-Off Or What?

Summary: As I have been pleased with Brother printers in the past, I bought this with the expectation that, since it was supposed to be a high volume color printer, I'd get a couple of thousand pages before I'd have to replace the cartridges. WRONG! All I've been able to get are a couple of hundred pages before it stops printing and requires new cartridges (four of them at $75 a clip, mind you). This is the ABSOLUTE WORST piece of office equipment I have ever purchased.
