Summary: The power cord that came with the machine is defective. When you plug it onto the prongs on the printer, it is very loose and any movement at all shuts off the power. I found an old monitor power cord that will work, but I haven't had a chance to test it. I will update this review after I've had a chance to test it.I think it would be worth spending the extra money and getting one with WiFi and that prints two sided.
Summary: It is a great printer! the only issue i had with is was that it came with no cable and that the toner ran out pretty fast for a laser printer. But it does the job great easy to read labels indication what error or if it needs paper.
Summary: So far after a month, I am very happy with this printer. It is very quiet, not worthy of any of the noise complaints written. For just home use it prints fast enough. Quality of print is great. Getting the driver online for my nettop was easy, unlike my cannon that we just couldn't get to load. I would buy another brother printer again when the time comes.
awesome printer. my sister got one, a friend from work got one.

Summary: i bought this during a ridiculous deal. id wanted a brother for a while, a good year prior to [finally] purchasing this one. my last printer was a samaung, my favorite brand, but it was huge and when i used it, the lights on the desk flickered for twenty minutes haha no lie. im a writer and i do most of my revising at night. so i print a lot of pages. this prints pages quickly. im using a windows pc with windows7 premium 64 bit operating system.
Summary: This is the fourth Brother laser printer I've purchased in the last few years, and it's another winner for me. It prints exactly as I hoped from my Windows 7 laptop, with no problems whatsoever. My previous printers all had larger-capacity toners, but they cost a lot more as well. So that's just the way things are - and for the price I got it, to fuss over that would be unconscionable.
Summary: I have a HP LaserJet 4L which I love. It prints perfectly after sitting for half a year without use. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work with my new PC through a USB connection. The Brother HL-2140 is the lowest price laser printer I found with a fully enclosed paper tray - important for a printer that sits for months. It'll spew 10 pages before the HP prints the first page. Print quality is comparable with the HP. Text quality is the same as far as my eyes can tell.
Summary: For the price I paid for this, I really can't complain. A laser printer for $50 bucks? AND, it prints hundreds of pages on the first toner cartridge. You just can't beat it! The quality of the print is pretty good too...and it seems somewhat durable (so far). So far, it has not been frustrating in the least. AND, as an added bonus, it hasn't ever flashed "PC Load Letter!
Summary: I did order this when it was a deal of the day at $49.99, so it was rock bottom cheap, with free shipping. It took several weeks to receive it, and when I did, my brother, who is my "go to" computer guy, helped me attempt to set it up. We worked & worked at it & it just would not "synch". Finally gave up & decided to call Brother in the am.
