Brother HL-2140 is a compact monochrome laser printer. It is an ideal printing solution for home and home office. It is designed in grey and white plastic housing finish.

The HL-2140 is capable to print up to 23 pages per minute and high-quality output. Besides that, it is built with an enclosed 250-sheet capacity tray for convenient paper handling allowing user to stack a bundle of paper in it. Moreover, it provides a manual by-pass slot allowing user to load envelopes and letterhead. It is compact and space-saving enabling user to place it even on the work desk. It delivers up to HQ1200 (up to 2400 x 600 dpi) of resolution to provide quality letters, reports and documents. Plus, it is also easy to be use and adding to that, it also comes with a user-friendly animated tutorials answer common maintenance and support questions. In term of speed, it delivers 23ppm black. It is compatible with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. In addition, it uses USB interface allowing user to print from desktop and laptop. Time consumed for first print is less than 10 seconds. It is also built with 8MB memory. It enables to print on plain paper, bond, envelops, labels and transparencies. The paper tray can be loaded with letter, legal, executive, A4, A5, A6, B5 and B6. Meanwhile, the manual feed can be loaded with letter, legal, executive, A4, A5, A6, B5, B6, envelopes and custom sizes (3.0-8.5" (w), 4.57-14" (l)). It measures 4.5" x 14.2" x 6.7" (W x D x H) in dimension and weighs 15 lbs.

    Home and one-per-desk style mono laser printers are cheaper to run than inkjet machines and for those who don't need colour, they represent a better deal. According to its own literature, Brother is the second most popular brand of laser printer in the UK, so a new entry-level printer deserves an early evaluation. Read more

    The focus of the Brother HL-2140 is clear, and as a good little text churner this laser packs the goods. Use it extensively and, in the long-term, you'll end up paying considerable amounts.     In each case, using my standard 102-word document, I was able to get 21ppm.  I was unable to detect any noticeable difference between the print qualities achieved and felt each one was more than adequate for most, if not all, home/small office tasks.  Adding a small mono chrome image to the document had no affect on the print speed or quality of the printed page.  If I was not perfectly happy with my current laser printer then I would seriously consider the HL-2140 as...     I use this printer at home for reports and such. It is my first laser printer. I got tired of buying a new inkjet every couple of months, so I figured for a few bucks more I could get a printer that would last a lot longer. The print quality is great. Text is especially sharp.     The HL-2140 is intended for light-duty use, personal or home office. It is not intended for use in large office, where hundreds of pages are printed everyday. This printer is a laser printer that uses toner (graphite-colored powder) that is burned into the paper; it is not made to do photos, especially on photo papers.     I bought this printer to be my primary SO printer and to supplement a MF color printer that I have. Install was a snap, from physically prepping the printer ( the included instructions makes it almost foolproof), to loading the software and initializing the printer.     I got this on a newegg combo deal, with this and a 16G usb drive for $75, which is a good price. After using the printer a few times, I would say it is a good home laser printer. It works well for printing out text, which represents most printing anyways. It is a black/white printer only, so no color. It is a very fast printer, especially compared to the standard inkjet printer. New toner cartridges for this are cheaper than inkjet cartriges too. If you know how to fill... Read more
