Summary: When my 3 years old Brother Laser printer started producing smudged prints I found out the cost of replacing the drum assembly. The Brother 1230 was selling for less than the price of that drum. I got a new printer for less than the price of its consumables - cannot beat that. Printer itself is very reliable; Fast enough for all my needs; compact and quite.
Summary: Review written for the Brother 1440 but it applies to this one as well. I purchased 2 printers for my office of 14 people. We already have a Hewlett Packard. From day one this printer has been an absolute nuisance. It takes approximately 6 minutes for any job to reach the printer, and an additional 3 minutes for multiple pages to print. Don't even bother to attempt the manual tray.
Summary: You just can't beat the price. Plus the fact that it has a tray for the paper is great. NEVER get a printer that is gravity fed. It never fails that eventually, the printer will develop a habit of trying to grab more than one sheet of paper. You rarely get this behavior with tray fed printers. The only downside to this printer is that you can't upgrade the memory and that it has no printer language.
Summary: Usually I would go for the HP machine, but I've been satisfied with this product. As long as you follow the installation directions properly your on your way; The print quality is great. If you need an affordable printer for the home or small office, this one is it.
Summary: Wow, amazing how inexpensive a laser printer can be these days, and this is the one to get... It even has a paper tray, something the other laser printers in this price range dont have... Plus free shipping and no sales tax, WHAT A DEAL!!
