Excerpt: You need to follow instructions on how to reset the drum when you first install it.Someone installed it at work without resetting it and threw the instructions away so it still flashes that it needs a drum. No one knows how to reset so we will have to buy another one just for the instructions but we will be able to use it eventually.
Excerpt: I usually have to purchase a drum once a year but lately I am having to purchase them every 3 months or so. The life cycle of these drums just keeps getting shorter and shorter. I do not print any more than I did when I first bought the printer as I use my HP laser for the bulk of my printing for the quality. The drums are just not producing the quantity specified anymore, nor does the toner. I do good to print 1000 copies on the toner before it runs out.
Excerpt: Bought this for my office printer and after just like 5uses it says that my drum is coming to end of life.... I had called and got a replacement and the same thing is happening.... I would not recommend this for anyone.... Not a good purchase at all.
Excerpt: To the person who only got 320 pages from the drum and received a message needs new drum, you did not reset the printer to let it know you installed a new Drum. To Reset, do the following: 1-Open front cover, 2- hold down the GO button until ALL the lights blink including the RED Error light. 3 - let go of the Go button, 4 - Close the front cover.
Excerpt: I purchased this item 9-17-13, received it 9-19-13, installed it on 9-20-13, and today is 10-14-13 and my machine is already stating that it needs a new drum. I have only run 325 copies and its supposed to last approximately 2,000 copies.
Excerpt: As another reviewer stated, as long as print quality is good you don't necessarily need to change the drum unit. This has been the case for our Brother HL2270DW printer. The printer needs a drum unit AND a toner cartridge to function. Our Drum indicator light on the printer has been amber for many months (not green) and we still get good quality printing for all of our business documents. We finally changed the drum unit after over a year!
Pros: Long Cartridge Life, easy to replace, Clean Replacement
Excerpt: Our office has 3 of these printers and while they work good and overall we are happy with them I feel the drum unit should work longer then it does. The printer cost just a few $$$ more then the drum but we have had to purchase numerous drum units.
Excerpt: Just a short review for clarification. The below 4 reviewers really should know their equipment prior to reviewing products. This is the drum unit only as shown in the description. A separate toner cartridge is required as is shown in the description. You need both drum and toner for your machine to function. You should not need to swap out the drum unit every time the toner is low just the toner cartridge. This only needs done if the print quality becomes bad.
