Summary: FROM THEIR WEBSITE: 4/3/2012 10:27:34 AM Norman Heilman (Technical Support Rep) Dear Customer, The TEW-MP1U does not support the windows 7 64 bit operating system. The unit has been discontinued and will not receive any further s. You may need to return the unit to the place of purchase.
Summary: Need to use a windows computer for initial setup of device. I set a fixed IP address and then installed under WinXP, 7, Ubuntu Linux without the WINDOWS DISK. Using XP and product disk, network was autodetected and I was able to set the IP address as manual (fixed). Setup on a PC is then counter intuitive but not hard. Record IP address and Port=9100.
Summary: The setup worked without a hitch in XP- easier than my d-link print server did. Under Win7 it hung during setup and phone support couldn't help. I instead went through Windows add-a-printer and chose local/LPR and now it works fine. Wireless too. Refurb price was super cheap.
Summary: This is a great product, it saves me the need to use an extra computer as a server. It is much faster and for a reliable. I would recommend this to anyone who has more than one computer and uses a network.
Pros: Easy To Setup, Easy to Use, Fast, Fast Connection Speed, Reliable connection, Secure Connection
Summary: The device would not connect wirelessly to 2 different networks. One used a Linksys WRT54g router. The other used a Belkin F5D7234-4 router. The Setup would not complete when connected to the Linksys. I got an error on the last step when connection is attempted. I was able to complete installation on the Belkin, but lost connection as soon as the wire was disconnected. Also, the client is disappointing as it does not establish a persistant connection.
Summary: This unit only works with certian printers so check the list before you by. I could not get it to work wirelessly at all. My router could not find the unit so it must be a very weak signal coming from this unit. I even tried it without security to see if it was the problem but it was not. When this unit works (wired)the utility program makes you connect and then disconnect when you are done so that someone from another computer can use it.
