Summary: I purchased this (refurbished) print server for my business so that I could use a thermal printer approx. 50 feet from the nearest workstation. In that it exceeded my expectations! All I had to do is run a cord from my network switch and an extension cord to the nearest outlet for the power supply.
Summary: I Installed this print server on a Ricoh 200 copier/printer/fax. I then installed the software on 2 of my computers, one running WIN 2000 and the other XP Pro. There were no problems with the installation and everything worked properly. I will probably buy another one for my other printer.
Summary: Netgear makes the most reliable home and small office networking products on the market. The PS101 print server was remarkably easy to set up and works without a glitch on my HP Laserjet 2100. A phoneline interface would have been perfect for hooking this up to my RP334 DSL router, but instead I had to purchase an ethernet to phoneline bridge (PE102) to accomplish this task.
Pros: Works perfectly and fits directly onto the parallel port or a printer. Small size makes it very convenient and enables you to move the printer anywhere you want.
Cons: Cost, power supply design, and lack of phoneline interface.
