Great product

NICHOLAS F., Newegg
11 February 2014
  • Summary: The sad part of these reviews are mostly people who have little to no knowledge of how to configure devices. This little baby has worked with every Lexmark, HP, and Ricoh printer that I have plugged into it. I can use a USB printer over Wired or WiFi connections.
  • Pros: Ease of use portability scalability
  • Cons: none

Update the Firmware!!

Richard C., Newegg
16 March 2013
  • Summary: Like the other reviewer, I found the device would not connect to my wireless network. However, using HP Download Manager I was able to update the firmware to V41.12 and was then able to connect the device with no problem.
  • Pros: 1. Works great after firmware update 2. Easy to administer once embedded web page can be accessed
  • Cons: 1. Required a firmware update out of the box to connect to WPA2 network 2. Had to physically connect the device to the network first in order to configure it.

Does not work with DesignJet 500's

Eric R., Newegg
6 March 2013
  • Summary: I had an existing Jetdirect EW2400 on a Design Jet 500 that I love. I have another design jet that I wanted to hook up so i ordered the Jetdirect EW 2500 as the EW2400 is no longer made. Unfortunately I learned the hard way that HP killed the support within the EW2500 for designjet 500's..
  • Pros: NONE
  • Cons: Does not work with HP designJet 500 printers

Worthless: WPA/WPA2 Does Not Work

Aaron H., Newegg
27 January 2012
  • Pros: It never worked, so I have no idea.
  • Cons: DO NOT BUY IF YOU NEED TO USE WPA OR WPA2 PERSONAL SECURITY! I tried connecting this to 3 using WPA and WPA2 personal security. (In all possible configurations.. AES, TKIP, AES+TKIP). One was an older linksys router, and the other two were running custom firmware: DD-WRT and Tomato. Other devices...
