  • Pros: Has worked great with 3 different printers for more than 2 years! I would buy another one if they were in stock.
  • Cons: Setup is a bit complicated. Not in stock

  • Pros: Still going great. Bought 2 years ago. The scanner function on my Canon MP470 is not compatible. However my Epson was and I can scan to my PC Win 7 64bit.
  • Cons: Check printer compatibility list on Dlink forum before you buy..

No problems whatsoever

Anonymous, Newegg
3 September 2010
  • Pros: Works with more devices than advertised. I bought this to act as a print server for a Brother HL-2140. D-Link's website only listed the Brother HL-2040 in their compatibility list so I was a bit wary of unboxing this, but I decided to try it and wasn't disappointed. Configuring new computers to u...
  • Cons: Setup may be intimidating for those who are not comfortable with setting up networks.

User Review

John N., Newegg
30 July 2010
  • Summary: In a two story house with all the good printers on the other story, this is 50 bucks well spent. With the exception noted above, otherwise flawless integration with a DIR-655 and g/n devices.
  • Pros: Great print server. Once I figured the install out, everything works flawlessly. Adding a printer is very easy in Windows 7, particularly if you go through the print server's own setting page per the manual. DON'T try to set it up through Windows itself; didn't work for me.
  • Cons: I don't know if it was a Vista error, or just unique to my friend's computer, but the print spool kept giving error messages when I tried to install the network printer. I was about to reinstall Vistas completely (or upgrade to Windows 7) when i came across a print spool help fix from Microsoft h...

No good for GDI host-based printers

Joe B., Newegg
16 June 2010
  • Pros: easy to setup and configure. nice small size.
  • Cons: Some printers are called Host-based Printers (a.k.a. GDI printers). HP LJ 1020 is an example. This print server will not work with a GDI printer. There are some print servers on the market that claim to work with GDI printers. Would have been nice to know this limitation up front. Googled for 3 h...

Convenience, convenience, convenience!

Anonymous, Newegg

  • Pros: Does what it is supposed to. Too bad scanning is not supported on all machines but I scan rarely. This is a great investment for a printer without built-in networking. The convenience is well worth the price.
  • Cons: Personally none.

Great print server

Bruce C., Newegg
29 January 2010
  • Summary: You can either mount it or stand it up vertically. That's a nice feature so that you can mount it on the side of a desk where it wont be seen.
  • Pros: This print server is great! The setup was very easy, and it found both of my printers (Brother laser and even an HP Photoprinter)! I haven't tried to print to the photoprinter, but the print server found it! I made sure it had the latest firmware, and then had to download the drivers from the pri...

Works For Me

Kevin S., Newegg
3 December 2009
  • Summary: I can't comment on the wireless end since mine is hardwired. Works great with my WinXP Home, Pro, and Win7 Pro 64-bit PC's. Everyone can print fine. With my Epson R1900, the status monitor is useless (but that's to be expected with a print server and not a con, just a fact).
  • Pros: Quick and easy setup, nice features for the price.
  • Cons: None so far.

Diggin' it!

Steven L., Newegg
24 November 2009
  • Summary: Only hiccup seems to be the setup process not always seeing that a driver had been installed previously on the pc. Also, if I point the setup to a local folder containing the proper driver, (I had copied over earlier) It doesn't actually find the driver..
  • Pros: 2 usb ports supporting 2 devices Web interface is rather straight forward
  • Cons: Doesn't make coffee in the morning
