Summary: Returning it after 3 days of frustration. Will not buy another D-Link product unless it's the last thing available in the world. D-Link has really slid down the chute. I used to be a big fan of D-Link products, but this one bad experience wiped out years of good will in my book. I really wish I'd paid attention to the other reviews before purchasing this thing. (Newegg needs to provide a zero egg rating because this thing earned it!
Pros: Worked well for one day.
Cons: Installed exactly as described in the installation guide, but was all downhill from there. Drops connections, can't find the wireless signal from my router, can't find attached printers -- you name it, this poor excuse for a paperweight gets it wrong. Unbelievably poor quality for a D-Link product.
Pros: The printer server wold be nice in terms of allowing up to four printers to be connected to it. That's a very desirable feature ... if it works.
Cons: Erratic behavior. Have to reset it about ten times a day. Product support not very useful. They tell you to reset it. So, you have to reset it about three or four times for every print job. A total waste of time. Had to disconnect it and still searching for a better product. Totally disappointed in D-Link.
Summary: I am actually surrpise Newegg sells this. Its the first bad piece of hardware I've ever purchased from Newegg. But I know it's not their fault.
Cons: The reason the cost is so low is because its a pile of junk. Do not waste your money. I've gone through 2 of these in two weeks. Neither one worked at all, ever. All D-Link cust. service could tell me is to press the reset button. When you get to the online setup page you have to enter a password. The manual says that the password is blank. zbut nothing happens when you leave the feild blank and click the login button. You cant even get in to update the firmware becau...
Summary: Both printers I mentioned are supported by this unit. Their techs (got up to Level 2) said that it may have been a defective unit. My hardware revision was A3. It came with firmware 1.21 and I updated it to 1.24. I returned the unit to the store I got it from and got a full refund. It's been awhile since I bought a D-Link product. I thought they would have changed by now. Looks like they haven't. Stay away unless you have time to burn.
Pros: It's a wireless printer server with 4 USB ports. Was able to connect it to my WPA2-secured network no problem. The connection to it seemed solid. It recognized my HP LaserJet 1020 and HP PSC 2210 and the scanner on my HP PSC 2210.
Cons: Only got my HP LaserJet 1020 and HP PSC 2210 to print once each. Tried again and again with raw or LPR settings, SNMP on or off, Super G disabled or enabled, wired or wireless connections...nothing.
Cons: Huh, where do I start? Forget about wireless config. Tried for days (I do this at work all day). Unit works while LAN cable is connected to router. The minute you remove it - nothing. I can't even get the config page. It just will not show up yet my router shows it as a ethernet device - not wireless. Totally lost all faith in D-Link. Their 24/7 support is a joke. These people are thoroughly inept at what they do. Woman I spoke with had no idea what I was trying to do...
Summary: I downloaded the latest firmware to no avail. When this print server is compatible I have given it 5 eggs. In this case only one, since there was no info stating to check a compatability list for specific printers. Check Dlinks website before purchase!
Pros: I have used this print server in the past with different printers with no problems until today.
Cons: BE AWARE! There are printers out there that this print server is just not compatible with. BE AWARE! In my case it is the Canon imageclass MF6550 laser printer/scanner
Cons: I have several D Link products, including a previous version of their print server which I was very happy with. This print server is one of the of the weakest products I have ever used. Documentation was terrible, tech support was worse. The web interface to acess the print server was tempermental and had the attempt to acess a dozen times before it loaded. Sending files takes forever - no buffer to speak of - and then larger documents hang. A total waste of money.
Cons: Constantly drops off-line,emailed Dlink, they couldn't understand my problem??!!more than 1/2 the time does not show up in my network map,not very happy with this unit.Probably going to RMA and use another brand.
Summary: I admit, I had reservations about buying another D-Link product after I had a D-Link wireless router fail after approximately 7 months back in '06 or so. But I chalked it up to a fluke and decided to give them another try since this print server seemed to have everythng I needed. Between lazy tech support and a product that cannot recognize printer drivers that it specifically lists as supporting, I am finished with wasting my money on D-Link products.
Pros: I am unable to list any...could never get this product to work as intended.
Cons: I bought this print server for two features: First, it had my printer (an older HP Photosmart 7350) listed as compatible. Second, it also has a range booster feature, which would definitely be handy in my new home. Sadly, I wasn't able to get either feature working. The print server kept getting hung up on the installation. After adjusting the uPNP feature on my desktop (which D-Link's instructions were quite thorough on), I was ready to install the printer drivers to...
Cons: Sat on phone with D-Link tech support for 2 + hours and got no where. Had to set up static IP on PC and connect directly to Print server. Could NOT ping print server even with static IP. DLINK print server does not work properly. Does not pull DHCP nor does the built in web server come up. Dlink tech support is USELESS. They refuse to replace the unit for ANY reason.
