  • Summary: " Hasn't got the power of a mains powered jigsaw, but will cut 2" pine slowly, and plywood well. Reasonable battery life, and a good complement to the one plus system.

THIS SAW RUNS BACKWARDS

  • Summary: This saw will cut very slowly. This is because it is running BACKWARDS. This means that the blade is cutting on the downward stroke and not on the upward stroke as it should. Most jigsaw blades have their teeth pointing upwards and this is why they are intended to cut on the upward stroke. The pendulum action should take the blade away from the work on the downward stroke and bring it back into contact with the work on the upward stroke.

Does the job, but can be a bit erratic.

  • Summary: For a 18v jigsaw, this model from Ryobi does the job and does it as well as any other battery powered jigsaw. What tends to let it down a little is in the speed of the cutting action, mainly because being battery powered it doesn't have the speed of a mains powered unit. It will ocaasionally snatch and jump out of the workpiece. You'll need to be prepared for this. But don't be put off. It still does a good job.
