Summary: The unit itself is AOK, but the software doesn't work. Second tier tech support didn't seem to care to help me get it set up correctly. So the surge protection and battery backup will work, just not auto shutdown the computer safely.
Pros: Relatively inexpensive, as long as you don't count the cost of potential data loss when it drops power to your server.
Cons: This unit works great...until the batteries get old. At that point, the unit will randomly drop power to the connected equipment. Doesn't tell you that the batteries are bad, doesn't do anything except unceremoniously killing power to whatever's connected. I called Tripp Lite support about this, and they said it's perfectly normal for an "Uninterruptable" Power Supply to interrupt power in this way. If you want an actual UPS, this is not the product for you.
Summary: I hate to spoil your party, but this unit has not met with my expectations, three times. 1. Unit got fried by Lightning. 2. Unit smelled bad. Returned it as it made me ill. Marketing says they use a preservative to store components during manufacture and shipping. 3. Unit 3 Bad fan. 4. If Unit 4 is bad I am returning that and asking for a refund. They are helpful, but THIS PRODUCT IS NOT the Best for what you pay.
Summary: I really like the real-time voltage display. You begin to appreciate how often this unit is working to provide stable power to your sensitive electronics. No fuss, no muss operation. Solid build construction. Bought a 2nd unit and would have no hesitation buying another one if needed.
Summary: Hits the sweet spot for price and performance. My 5 yr old APC unit went BLAM; replaced it with Tripp Lite. Unit provides UPS for almost 15 TB of NAS on my network. Held up like a trooper during several power sags and outages.
Summary: I have had this unit for 2 months. No problems, easy to set up. I live in the 'sticks' and power surges and brief outages are frequent. I have been an APC user for years, but hate the beeping. Haven't heard this one beep yet, and there has been outages. It just quietly does it's job an minds its own business. Like the software features. So far has been doing it's job. I like the digital read-out too. Was surprised to see how much power really changes.
