StarTech ATX2PW400PRO

  • Summary: One reviewer complained of fan noise. My unit is pretty quiet. Never put too much stock into a negative review. Many negative reviews is a different story. My other PSU's have been running for years now and their fans are a lot louder than this one.
  • Pros: Well built unit. Nice and heavy, the way a good power supply should be.
  • Cons: None.

Works Great As A Replacement!

  • Summary: I have an HP computer with only a dinky little 250 watt power supply. I have not added to it with a lot of extra components. There have been enough upgrades that I know the power supply is working at its peak. I knew I was never going to add a powerful top of the line video card.

recommend for critical areas

  • Summary: because of cost, I only sell these in our dvr and small server stations. When I need more, I go with the 500w+ models. I don't know about fan noise as most of these that I HAVE SOLD are in servers but, ZERO failure...zero!
  • Pros: rock solid performance, lots of connectors - but read the specs anyways
  • Cons: I don't believe this has all the connectors for the server boards. It's not cheap.

Stay away, unless you're deaf!

  • Summary: - I don't care how good a power supply this is, the fan is an absolute joke and renders it unusable. I am not exaggerating either. I've used and have been happy with StarTech's power supplies and products over the years, but this here unit misses the mark by miles. STAY AWAY!
  • Pros: - Adequate power - Built solidly - Reliable
  • Cons: - Fan is loud. I don't just mean loud, I mean OBSCENELY LOUD. We're talking jet engine whine loud. It's quieter on the tarmac of an aircraft carrier than this fan. You can hear it whining 3 rooms away. Headphones with music on loud doesn't drown it out.
