Killer Value

Anonymous, Newegg
5 December 2012
  • Summary: I didn't let them replace it with another Nexus. I still remember one review that said: "don't but anything with "value".
  • Pros: Quiet, Nice long cables, Enough connectors, Sleeved, Nice
  • Cons: I got it without box. The vent didn't rotate. I asked a manufacturer. It was supposed to be normal. Short time something inside my computer was stinking - a smell of burning. One day the computer shut down. Pressing Power Button made the processor vent move a bit and quiet again. PSU DEAD! Extra ...

5 egger

Matthew W., Newegg

  • Summary: Using this in a HTPC setup in living room. A favorable review at silentpcreview led me here to buy.
  • Pros: Nice quiet power supply w/a 120mm fan. Sleeved cables. No flash just a solid Power supply.
  • Cons: None

Soooo quiet!

Victor C., Newegg
11 December 2010
  • Summary: Other power supplies may have higher wattage (for the same price) but with the fact that they get too loud starting at about 200W load means that they have a severely limited USABLE wattage.
  • Pros: This power supply is amazing, it even stays quiet with a full watt load on it. That is more than can be said for pretty much every other power supply in existence. Every other power supply may say "SILENCE" or something as a feature, but once you put some sort of load on it they get to 40dB and u...
  • Cons: Cables could be longer, I had to get a CPU EPS 12V extension cable to use this power supply in my P182.

Dissapointing Quality Control

Bernard K., Newegg
16 September 2010
  • Summary: I expect more from a boutique power supply.
  • Pros: Don't know yet
  • Cons: One of the SATA connectors popped right off as soon as I tried to plug it in. The wires werent even stripped before it was jammed on, so it wouldn't have worked anyways. Furthermore, its an internal connector rather than a terminal one, so I cant even safely strip it myself.

Quiet, quality, quiet, inexpensive, quiet

Thomas S., Newegg
28 May 2010
  • Summary: Most people get WAY more power supply than they need. Unless you're doing SLI/Crossfire, or have some crazy setup, 430 watts is more than enough. Even under load, my reasonably beefy system peaks at less than half of that.
  • Pros: Nexus is a brand famous for their quiet fans, and this PSU doesn't disappoint. It is very quiet. Very very quiet. I had to check to be sure the fan was even on, and that was when it was running by itself with nothing else in the case. And it's a "value" drive. What a bargain!
  • Cons: I put it in an Antec case (Mini P180) that mounts the PSU at the bottom, so it was a little tricky getting the 2x4 12v connectors to reach all the way to the top rear corner of the motherboard. It wouldn't reach going behind the motherboard tray in the cable-organization space, so it has to pass ...

Solid!

Bertil W., Newegg
26 May 2010
  • Summary: I use this in a recording environment, powering a DAW, so near silent is important.
  • Pros: Almost silent. Good build quality.
  • Cons: The naming of this product is a little bit strange. I don't consider $80 to be the "value" segment. Don't get me wrong. It is a great value.

Power Supply Nirvana

Jonathon T., Newegg
22 April 2010
  • Summary: The cables themselves are a couple inches longer than some other non-modular power supplies. This could either be good or bad depending on the case it's going into. Also, because of this power supply and a few other passively cooled or near silent components, the HTPC is actually the quietest thing...
  • Pros: This is a small, well designed power supply. It's currently one of the quietest fan based PSUs money can buy. The unit I purchased has been running strong 24/7 for over 5 months now through extensive use in an HTPC/media center pc. It is still rock stable and just as silent as the day it was inst...
  • Cons: It's not modular and a 430 watt rated PSU just isn't hefty enough these days for some applications (gaming machines especially). These aren't major drawbacks though. This PSU is meant for cool and quiet operation in systems that probably don't get opened all that often and it excels at doing just...

best one I know of for most applications

Michael W., Newegg
26 March 2010
  • Summary: I've used this power supply in two machines so far. I will definitely use it again. It performs well and is extremely quiet. Technically it is not quite silent but unless you live in a tomb you won't hear it. It is my first recommendation for all but the most demanding PCs.
  • Pros: Quiet, well behaved and reasonably priced power supply.
  • Cons: none

Silence!

Scott R., Newegg
26 February 2010
  • Summary: I think Nexus is my new favorite PSU brand.
  • Pros: I was a little skeptical of this PSU because I had never heard of the brand before, but it was highly recommended. I can see why. It's completely silent, and it works great.
  • Cons: Cables aren't modular, but so few PSUs have that.
