Gigabyte Sumo Power Silver 900 W

11 January 2012
  • Summary: Without a doubt Gigabyte is a key player in IT manufacturing with great success in the motherboard and VGA market. So it is not surprising that many overclockers out there praise the company at every occasion. This is also why I had big expectations from Gigabyte's new Sumo PSUs, even though older Gigabyte models proved to be not so great performers. After completing this review, I am a bit disappointed that the Sumo Power 900W simply could not impress me.
  • Pros: High efficiency at >20% loads, Good enough ripple suppression on the minor rails, Lots of connectors, Strong 5VSB rail, Quality workmanship, LED lit fan
  • Cons: High price, High ripple at +12V, Loose voltage regulation overall, Low efficiency at, Coil whine noise at full load, Short EPS and PCIe cables, Large footprint (for its capacity)
