Good budget friendly PSU choice

Daniel B., Newegg
24 April 2015
  • Summary: good amount of connections for such a small wattage PSU
  • Pros: Plugged it in with a PSU tester and ran it for over an hour out of the box. Ran near silent, and no weird smells. Used in a budget build with a Celeron CPU, 4GB RAM, 120GB SSD. PSU has plenty of power left to spare, and after a year, customer tells me PC is still running great.

Exploded

Charles R., Newegg
13 November 2014
  • Summary: Purchased Aug 2013 to replace a 7 year old Antec that finally gave out (gently, just turned itself off). Bought this model because I needed a replacement immediately, it had seemingly good reviews, and there was a rebate.
  • Pros: It was cheap?
  • Cons: Not quite 15 months after purchase, it just lit itself up like fireworks. A series of earsplitting sparks and then thankfully it died, as it filled the room with toxic smoke. I feel like I'll be lucky if any of my components still function once I get a new supply. I think I'll stick to Antec now....

  • Cons: It died after 3 months.

  • Summary: The PS died on my five year old Dell i7. I saw reviews on the big names where they were failing. This one seemed to be getting good reviews. After nine months, I'm still pleased.
  • Pros: * Plenty of connections for my older Dell i7 motherboard * Spends most of every day powered up
  • Cons: None so far

Useless

Jeffery T., Newegg
21 January 2014
  • Summary: Power supply would shutdown after 250 watt load was placed on the system, usually in about 1-3 min. RMA'ed the power supply and the second one has the exact same problem. Switch to a separate brand 500W power supply and that works fine.
  • Pros: looks nice
  • Cons: Defective
