Not awesome

Bevan B., Newegg
3 October 2014
  • Summary: Extra egg because it might not have -completely- been the PSUs fault. It's very likely my motherboard was shorting out at the time and putting more load on the PSU... I've replaced them both now. Would have expected a proper PSU to have protected itself from this...
  • Pros: Good spec PSU for less money! What could go wrong?
  • Cons: System overheated and PSU stopped working after 32 days. Failed the "paperclip + fans" test. I'm staying away from refurbished PSUs from now on.

Mixed Review

Jonathan J., Newegg
17 July 2014
  • Summary: I am a bit disappointed because while I have owned this power supply for close 4 years. I have only used it for about 1-2 years (or less) at most and there was never any significant load applied to it at any time. I have had power supplies fail, but never take other components with them.
  • Pros: Seemed to work steadily for about 1-2 years for me. No trouble, and even when it started displaying issues it still was able to provide power under load. It still is working, but after the "problems", I don't trust it.
  • Cons: Failed in January of 2014 hard: took motherboard , possibly CPU, and possibly a trickle effect that caused primary SSD failure. Computer just started rebooting under 350W load (measured via Kill-A-Watt at wall with Prime95 (loading CPU/memory) and the mfaktc (loading GPU)) and at 150W idle random...

Would be a great PSU except for the annoying buzzing fan

Robert O., Newegg
28 February 2014
  • Summary: This would be a 5 egg review EXCEPT for the annoying buzzing/rattle the fan develops over time. If you scroll through the reviews you will see a lot of people complaining about it.
  • Pros: Great looking PSU with great specs. IN THEORY should be ultra quiet since the fan will only spin when the PSU is under heavy load.
  • Cons: In practice, when the fan is under load but not enough to start it spinning, it rattles and makes an annoying buzzing noise.

  • Pros: it worked
  • Cons: make sure you follow up on the rebate and make sure you keep proof of when you mail your rebate or you might not get it.

Not Impressed

Jonathan B., Newegg
18 February 2014
  • Pros: It provides power
  • Cons: The power supply fan started to hesitate to start randomly, did some research and found a bunch of other people had this issue as well. I went and bought ANOTHER Corsair at a local store and that one started make a loud pitched piercing noise when it was being stressed. I went with another brand ...

Bad fan

Stephen G., Newegg
20 January 2014
  • Summary: The real stink is I went to replace the fan in order to avoid buying another PSU, and the fan isn't your regular case fan. It's part of the unit itself, you'd have to manually cut it away.
  • Pros: Stable, plentiful power.
  • Cons: Fan started squealing around 6 months. Completely died around month 12. Sad days.

Dead Fan

Christopher G., Newegg
4 January 2014
  • Summary: I purchased this product to power a new case I was going to build after I got back from my deployment late last year. I set up everything and in less than a week the psu's fan quit working.
  • Pros: Powers case just fine and is very "quiet"
  • Cons: Due to the quiet nature the fan is dead on it after such a short time of being installed. Very disappointed.

  • Summary: Maybe I got a lemon
  • Pros: Extremely quiet
  • Cons: Cords are very short. Definitely would have length issues with a full size tower.

Blew after 2 years

Luke R., Newegg
31 December 2013
  • Summary: It gets two eggs because it didn't ruin any parts with it when it went out.
  • Pros: Worked well when it worked. Didn't take out any components when it blew.
  • Cons: After two years it a capacitor popped or something, huge bang and left a bad smell in the room.

User Review

Vincent C., Newegg
30 November 2013
  • Summary: I ended up RMAing this unit back to corsair for a replacement.
  • Pros: Ran pretty efficiently.
  • Cons: Had a notorious buzzing noise. It had a very bad coil whine, that was noticeable while playing any game. The fan was also very loud for me.
