Summary: This is the nicest power supply I have ever purchased and I have been building/repairing computers for over 20 years. I worry that because it came from walmart that the quality is compromised. I guess time will tell.
Summary: had my power supply for 3 weeks now and no problems yet. it's supporting a Anttec ISK600 Case. with a i7-4770 procs, GTX760 SC 2GB, 250gb SSD Samsung drive, 750gb western digital 7200rpm drive, 8gb or corsair Vengeance mem. and it's running everything awesome.
Summary: I used this to replace a dead power supply in my Dell XPS 7100. Most box computers come with a cheapo power supply that will die within 5 years (mine died in 3). Dell is no exception. This one fit right in and made the computer about 50% less noisy. This is the second CX-500 I've bought and I will keep on buying them.
Summary: Corsair is the only PC power supply manufacturer I trust. I have had other power supplies fail during brownouts and surges, but neither of my Corsair power supplies have failed yet. I also own the 750W Builder Series. These provide enough amperage on each rail to be useful in a serious build. Other manufacturers make power supplies which are rated for a high wattage, but don't deliver enough amps on each rail to make use of it where it's actually needed.
Summary: Pros: -Looks nice. -Has protective covering over wires so they don't get frayed. Cons - A little hard to get the 24 pin connector to stay in the motherboard, due to the plastic seeming to be slightly oversized on the end. - Feels like the plastic on the connectors is a little oversized making it hard to connect everything in.
Summary: Just built my first build in an Antec One case using this 500w quality PSU... My build has 5 fans, GTX760, H87 Mobo, WD 1TB, Intel i5 Haswell 3.2GHz, and LG Multi-Reader OD. The fan in the PSU is quiet and does the job of keeping the unit cool. The cords have a nice nylon sleeve that protects them from gouges and scratches that could be potiential safetey hazards and the unit itself is sturdy and safe. Power is constant and strong.
