Summary: i bought this baby for my first pc build. Have no regrets what so ever. im probably only using 500watts if that. I knew i was going to be upgrading stuff in the future so i wanted to make sure i had enough power to do so.. and 850 is plenty. this psu is perfect. marked off a star on the value just because as soon as i bought this baby.. 2days later they have it on sale for $119 and i paid 169. shouldve waited.. oh well.
Summary: This power supply comes shipped in a velvet bag with all the extra cables in their own bag as well. I am using this in a bottom mount position(Corsair C70 case with Asus Z87-A mobo) with the cables running around the back of the case and the cables all had plenty of length and seem to be of high quality. The modular design allows such a beautiful case interior I wish I could show you a picture of inside my case.
Summary: It's a semi modular meaning, the motherboard power connectors are not removable. I didn't take away any stars for that as they are required and having them permantly and directly attached to the power rails is actually a plus. It is quit which is another plus. A power indicator LED would make this a perfect PSU.
Summary: Corsair once again delivered a great product for me. It's very quiet, in fact my case fans are louder and they have an even higher diameter. Everything working as intended. Will post again if any faults occur with the product.
Summary: This semi-modular PSU will keep your rig tidy and with enough juice to power an sli/xfire setup with plenty of overhead for everything else. The build quality and packaging are excellent. The unit comes in a velour-like bag and the extra sata power and molex cables are bundled in a neat pouch. The unit's metal enclosure feels sturdy. So far I've detected no coil whine or other noise, which some reviewers have reported.
Summary: Update (3/27/2013): After the RMA, I received a new HX850 with a their "new" fan curve. Turns out that the fan doesn't spin at idle-load and spins up loudly then turns off. Spoke with Corsair technician supervisor today, and he admitted that it's a known issue and they're upgrading me for free to an AX850.
Summary: I bought this power supply 3 years ago and used it in a high end gaming PC I built. It was easy to install, came with good instructions and has performed flawlessly for the last 3 years of daily use. I will be buying another one of these for my next PC build.
Summary: First and foremost it is a Corsair product and, therefore, a top of the line power PSU. This is a very nice modular unit with plenty of power connectors for SATA abd IDE devices. Runs very quiet and its 850 watt rating should cover all the periphials in your arsenal with plenty of room left over. Don't hesitate to choose this Corsair power supply for your build.
