The little engine that could...

Sean P., Newegg
10 August 2014
  • Summary: 8 freakin years guys, pushing it to its limits.
  • Pros: Owned this PSU for 8 years (eight!!!) and I have never had an issue. My computer was on almost 24/7 for those 8 years. I started with just 3 HDD's and when I retired my faithful supply I was running 9 HDD's and 1 SSD (along with my mobo, case, etc) I thought for sure I was going to blow this litt...
  • Cons: Very few SATA power plugs. I needed to purchase the 4 pin MOLEX to SATA adaptors (a couple bucks). It has just one big trunk of cables and is not modular. Making pretty cable management hard.

Christopher W., Newegg
8 June 2014
  • Pros: Quite and worked well while it worked 80 plus certified
  • Cons: Became flakey (wouldn't full boot the computer) and eventually wouldn't boot at all. Wish it would have worked longer then 5 years, but I guess I got what i paid for.

Bad capacitor

Chad B., Newegg
2 June 2014
  • Pros: Quiet, efficient. Looks nice on the outside.
  • Cons: Upon opening the unit to replace the fan (see my first review below), I discovered that additionally it has a bulging electrolytic capacitor ready to burst, complete with electrolyte leaking out the top vent. The cap is 3300 uF 16V, brand name "Su'scon" SD series. Also some of the soldering is in...

First DoA, second died at 4 years

Chad B., Newegg
31 May 2014
  • Pros: Quiet and high efficiency.
  • Cons: The first one I got was DoA. The output voltages were very low and the computer would not start. After having to pay for return shipping, the next one worked. However just recently the fan broke. Somehow the bearing came apart so the blade assembly fell downward and now clacks loudly on the botto...

  • Pros: Nice stable supply from reputable company.
  • Cons: Started to squeal last year and has only gotten worse :( Too bad, I had great hopes for this unit. Gave it a star for number of years it lasted :)

Good PSU for non-gamer

Anonymous, Newegg
20 November 2012
  • Summary: This PSU has been in a budget build PC since 2010. It is bottom mounted in the case. It had soda pop spilled down through it. A fuse blew. I am an electronic tech. so was able to repair it. It is still working, but I'm sure the warranty is shot.
  • Pros: 400 Watts is enough for a budget build. This is a quality PSU.
  • Cons: $55 seems a little high for 400 watts. But for good quality, I guess we shouldn't complain... No eggs taken off!

Died but it was not its fault

Richard C., Newegg
11 August 2012
  • Summary: Went from a (Pentium)E2200, 3X 1TB WD hd and a 3870 to a C2Q Q6600, 2 more ram sticks, a GTX 460 and another harddrive! I just knew that its a quality product and will not fry my equipment when it gave up.
  • Pros: Great PSU for the price, great/clean dc current, PFC, Everything i needed for the media computer/house file server i was building
  • Cons: after a whole 1 1/2 years of great and problem free service, i got some parts to upgrade the server and i knew that it was going to be too much for this 400w psu to handle.

I wouldent reccomend it.

Andrey O., Newegg
25 April 2012
  • Pros: It turn on?
  • Cons: Bought it back in 2010/11, from the first day of using it, it made a horrible squealing sound, it sounded like a electronic vibrating noise, (best way I can describe it). I still use it to this day tho, it dosent bother me so much since I use headphones. I just thought I'd share this in case anyo...
