Summary: Sad that this otherwise easy set-up and more powerful supply was broken. going to try and get a replacement or possibly a refund.
Pros: I have never owned a modular power supply. I love it. Installing was easy and the box itself is not too bulky. The modular option made cable management pretty easy I am a beginner at that sort of thing and while it was not the cleanest management ever, it looked way better than what I had before.
Cons: I unfortunately received a dud power supply. after rigorous trouble shooting it was determined and confirmed by others that the power supply simply was inoperable.
Pros: So far a very good and stable power supply except for the constant whining noise.
Cons: After about two weeks of use the power supply is now whining constantly and gets louder under load, very annoying and not acceptable. I would not recommend this PSU. I'm returning this one and trying a 850W EVGA.
Summary: Most probably defective.. and I have to suspect the shipping as it arrived with uninflated plastic padding surrounding the box -- not popped, it seems newegg just never inflated them :-/
Pros: Capable, solid build
Cons: Fan runs intermittently, but when it's on it sounded like a creaky bicycle. Additionally it made my speakers buzz while on (bad shielding?) in a way that my old Zalman 1KW did not. RMA'd and back to the Zalman for now.
Summary: Can someone please, please make a PSU with some decent QC. That's all I ask.
Pros: Very solid voltages Semi-modular Some cool extras in the box, like a carrying case (???)
Cons: I have owned two of these units now. The first one had terrible coil whine while at idle, and only at idle. When I booted up a game, the whine immediately stopped. That's pretty weird, so I RMA'd. The new one comes in and it whines WAY WORSE but only at load, and not at idle. I've never heard whi...
