Summary: Final Thoughts
When it comes down to it Corsair has once again impressed it. The AX860i is the best and most stable power supply in its class and one of the most stable I have seen in years. I can’t even remember the last power supply that I have tested that both the 12V and 5V rails were completely solid. This really shows you that digital power regulation is the way to go.
Pros: – Best performing power supply in its class, – Fully modular, – 80PLUS Platinum certified, – Corsair Link monitoring, – 7 year warranty
Summary: The new Corsair AX860i simply sets new performance standards. Its performance cannot be matched by any other PSU of similar capacity that I have tested in the past, and the features it packs are nothing less than amazing. But let us take it from the beginning. Efficiency, voltage regulation, and ripple suppression are ground-breaking.
Pros: Delivered full power at over 46°C ambient, Ultra-tight voltage regulation, High efficiency, Excellent ripple suppression, Semi-fanless operation, Corsair Link software managed to provide accurate power readings this time, Fully modular, 7-year warranty
Conclusion: The arrival of Corsair's premium AXi power supplies in, dare we say, sensible capacities is a logical move after introducing a 1,200W model in the summer. Taking all that's good from the DSP-controlled AX1200i and bringing it down to mainstream enthusiast levels results in the £175 AX860i, which is a Midi-Me of the range-topper.
Summary: Whenever we see top end enthusiast features trickle down to the mid-range market, a combination of three possible things happen. Either you pay out the nose for it, get it with reduced quality, or get it with reduced features.
Corsair Professional Series AX760i and AX860i Review
6 November 2012
Excerpt: 3 Flares 3 Flares × In August this year we analysed the latest high end power supply from Corsair, the AX1200i . It claimed our highest award and exhibited no weaknesses. The lower wattage models have been a long time coming, but today the wait is thankfully over.
