Summary: I had this happen with a 1kW CoolerMaster PSU. Basically all consumer PSUs use cheap sockets there instead of Molex HCS sockets. Just to give you some idea how silly this is, those sockets cost. You can then lead the extension through a passway to the rear compartment, and make the connection with the Corsair cable there easily where space is unobstructed.
Summary: The modular wires are for the drives, fans and GPUs, not quite 100% modular but I guess they figure 90% of the time you'll be using the wires they have hardwired for the CPU and motherboard plugs. But anyway, the true test of a PS is how long it last. I run mine 24/7 and they generally last a couple of years. We'll see how this one does.
Summary: Works as intended. Modular, all the way down to the 20-24 pin connectors. Comes with 2 variations of the PCI-E connectors. A third, single line PCI-E cable would of been nice. The directions are horrible. Luckily its almost impossible to plug anything in wrong.
Summary: Well constructed. Cables are heavy duty. It runs relatively quiet. Definitely need your mobo schematic to figure out cable hook up. Also could use longer cables. Had to run one cable across the mobo because it was too short to run it through the case's rear cable channel and the case is manufactured by Corsair.
Summary: I started getting lockups when playing intense hi res video games. It was getting very frustrating. An internet search seemed to suggest that my 12V bus was inadequate for the high end dual GPU video card I was using so I bumped the wattage up with this new supply (which only has one 12V bus, but it's huge!). Problem solved and I have more overhead for future expansion. I'm quite pleased with the result.
Summary: Right off the bat: THERE ARE TWO EPS CABLES! YOU PROBABLY CONNECTED THE WRONG ONE! I'm going to start off by saying I have been building PCs for 15 years. I was a senior engineer at Dell, as well as having administrative positions in the IT dept of several multinational corporations. I am the IT director of a multi-million dollar finance company, and am also the acting IT Director of a small consumer technology start-up. This isn't my first rodeo.
Summary: Has more than enough juice to power my system and any future upgrades. Modular cables made organization a breeze. Only complaint would be the price as it is not a cheap power supply. However in this case you get what you pay for.
