Excerpt: Six years ago, loading a true enthusiast machine down with all the hardware you could muster meant that you were pulling no more than 600W-700W, and finding a power supply to handle that kind of load was nearly impossible. Since then we've seen a huge change in the hardware that enthusiasts utilize in their rigs. SLI brought about multi-GPU systems that required more power than ever.

Excerpt: Corsair Memory continues to expand their PC power supply offering with the introduction of the Professional Series Gold line of power supplies, which currently includes three models: the AX750, AX850 and AX1200. All Corsair Professional Series Gold power supplies have been designed with performance, quality, reliability and energy-efficiency in mind.
Summary: The Corsair AX1200 is the
power supply from Corsair that we have reviewed, and represents the largest capacity unit from it that we have reviewed to date. All of Corsairs previous power supplies have come from CWT or Seasonic, but today Corsair has changed this up and the new
comes courtesy of Flextronics. So, not only is Corsair going bigger in scope it is also changing horses, or is that ships, in mid-stream?
Summary: Corsair has built a tremendously solid brand in the computer power supply market over the last couple of years. Today it steps into a new realm, that being the 1200 watt market. Making great PSUs gets harder as the power scales. Let's see if Corsair can ride the winds once again and pull off a bigger-than-a-kilowatt win.
Excerpt: Once in a while, something really cool comes into the lab here for me to look at. Today is one of those days. Corsair just dropped their latest and greatest into my hands, a 1200 watt model that just so happens to be rated at 80 Plus Gold, and I'm going to see just what it can do. Come on in - this should be fun.
Excerpt: The Corsair Professional Series Gold AX1200 is ideal for any high-end gamer or those who simply want to power a vast array of high-end hardware, because it will happily deliver power to a range of system components including the most demanding high-performance PCI Express graphics cards.
Excerpt: 1 Flares 1 Flares × Corsair are well known as one of the leading suppliers of high quality memory for the discerning enthusiast and in recent years they have expanded their range into other areas such as cooling and power supplies. The Corsair motto seems simple, create the best products they can without compromising … it has worked well for them so far as their name is more highly regarded now than it has ever been.
Conclusion: Just when it looked like the rest of the PSU market was finally catching up to the highly acclaimed HX series, Corsair have come out with yet another PSU range that moves the bar even further out of their sight. Without any shadow of doubt the AX1200 is by far the best PSU that has come through OC3D's labs to date, and the very fact that Corsair designed the unit from the ground up makes that achievement a whole lot more meaningful.
Pros: Absolutely amazing ripple suppression., Extremely powerful +12v rail., Gold level efficiency only a whisker away from Platinum., Fully modular for those neat freaks., Lovely modular cables., Silent (as far as I could tell with 3000w of testing equipment in the background!)., Shuts down safely when overloaded (which kicks in at over 1500w!)., Well packaged., 7yr Warranty.
