Summary: BFG ES-800 isn’t the best product available on the market, but it is also not the worse. If you decide to buy this product, you need to make sure that your serial number starts with 0835 or greater, otherwise you will have a huge electrical noise problem. Also, if you decide to buy it, you must register within 30 days of buying it, otherwise you will lose the lifetime warranty provided by BFG and get only a louse 1-year warranty.
Summary: BFG did a good job engineering the BFG ES-800 power supply. A big part of that can be attributed to Jon Gerow aka JonnyGuru who recently joined BFG's team to work on their power supply line of products. In our testing we saw an amazing efficiency of 84.9%, which is most probably a result of the "Frequency Conversion Technology" in this unit. I am confident there are other load scenarios where the PSU can easily break the magic 85% mark.
Pros: Extremely high efficiency, Stable output voltages, Lifetime warranty, Large number of connectors, Cables are fully sleeved
Cons: Not Modular, Not as quiet as it could be, Takes fingerprints easily
Conclusion: BFG has done it. They have completely turned around every aspect of their older 800W power supply and produced a unit which deserves the “enthusiast power supply” moniker. If we could once again hearken back to our review of the original BFG 800W Power Supply massive strides BFG has made towards improving their power supplies really become apparent.
