Excerpt: I have two of these units freshly installed in an A/V rack to protect the room's presentation equipment. We have a backup generator for the building, but it takes ten to thirty seconds to spin up and go online. These units allow us to ride out that transition. They come up with a solid rack mount kit as well as a stand. Please note that the face of the UPS sticks out a full inch from the rack plate.
Summary: Runs well with my mac mini and a 22" flat screen monitor. I actually unplugged the UPS from the wall and had solid 115 minutes of operation still to operate with the monitor on. I also want to thank APC for making these excellent products. I use APC since 2001.
Summary: Installed this in the server room today. It replaced an old RS1200 that ran for about 4 years without any issues. This new 1300 UPS has many upgraded features including a user friendly display showing the load and other functions. The trade UPS program is great -- it's main reason why I registered and jumped through all the hoops to write this review.
Summary: We are disappointed. We have deployed these at multiple locations. For the money the units have very short battery life (often less than 2 years) and whatu2019s worse is that anything connected goes down as soon as the battery goes bad. Then the unit needs to be bypassed by standard power strip while the new batteries are being ordered and shipped. Why not allow internal bypass with only surge feature while the batteries are being ordered?
Summary: Works very well. I did find the unit physically unstable when used in the "tower" option -- worried about it falling over, as the supplied plastic feet were inadequate. I converted it to the "rack" option, with much better mechanical stability.
