Summary: Do not use APC products. The technology being used in a UPS is ages old, and should last considerably longer than 5 years. At $500, that's $100 per year for simple power protection and short-term battery backup, which is ridiculous. I have ancient APC models from the 90s with their simple serial ports that are still working hard, yet this new breed causes batteries to rupture after less than 5 years of use?
Pros: Worked for 5 years.
Cons: This is from my original APC battery that came with the UPS, which I purchased in 2010/2011 . I received a warning from the UPS that the battery was disconnected. I removed the battery and observed its voltage to be just over 26 volts, which is what a fully-charged battery should be at. Since the manual does not cover very well what to do when this alarm comes in, I then plugged the battery back in, and the UPS didn't give the warning again. Then, I noticed the UPS ha...
Summary: I don't blame APC or Newegg. It's got APC logos and hazards written on it. It's obviously an expensive piece of electronic equipment that should be thrown down a flight of stairs.
Pros: The box arrived double-butted and sturdy. I'm not 100% sure why the LCD (top) bezel was cracked. I can only assume this was a return of one the prior complainants... I almost didn't return it. It's fully functional and tests across the board. After a 20 minute phone call with APC support, they were unable to locate a replacement front bezel, so some poor UPS guy has to lug another 2 of these things around again. APC was very understanding and didn't hesitate to mail o...
Cons: Broken. Only cosmetic. I was really hoping that enough time had gone by that they had corrected this inventory issue. I'm thinking the units arrived to the Newegg warehouse broken, as my box was not as others had described.
Cons: APC has NO SUPPORT for pre sales. If APC won't answer my questions and help me choose THEIR product, I can only imagine the horror if there's trouble after I buy it. Other reviews say this thing is VERY LOUD. APC told them to update the firmware but doesn't say how. The same reviewer received a replacement from APC and it had new firmware but the fan still ran all the time and could be heard. I didn't spend extra money to build a virtually silent server only to use a ...
Summary: I have used many different UPS systems over the last 19 years and APC is the only unit I will sell to my clients now. This product is being used for a Dell PowerEdge T320 for a small non-profit.
Pros: -High quality -Good price -Good software -LCD is helpful -Newegg price and shipping was good also
Summary: Be aware that this baby has a NEMA 5-15P plug and if you plan on using this at a home/residence, you will need an adapter cable.... My box was also demolished upon arrival however my UPS is flawless - no dents, no scratches. Also I had to call in Thor + Hulk to move it from my driveway to basement (ok it's not *that* heavy but still).
Pros: Works as advertised, easy to setup, arrived quickly, no complaints.
Summary: This item needs to be double boxed before shipment. The item box just is not enough protection for shipping this item. There should also be some labels on the items stating it is HEAVY with something to state HANDLE with CARE.
Pros: None-- At least from what I could see
Cons: The items was pretty well beat up. The box was almost non-existent.
Summary: WORKS GREAT IF YOU GET ONE THAT IS DAMAGED.
Pros: wORKS GREAT, UPDATE FIRMWARE
Cons: APC PACKAGING IS NOT CORRECT FOR THIS PRODUCT. APC IS GOOD AND HEAVY. BOX/PACKAGING IS NOT. PACKAGING TOOOOOOO CHEAPPPPP. OLDER DESIGN OF PACKING WAS STRONGER. IF HUMIDITY ABOVE 0 PERCENT, CARDBOARD GETS SOFT AND APC FALLS OUT OF BOX.
Summary: I saw several comments about the noise of the fan, both here and at other resellers. The fan on this thing sounds like it isn't even on! It is quiet as a mouse, and is even quieter than the new fan I bought to replace the fan in my old 1400 unit (which was quieter than the original in the 1400). Probably, I'm not taxing the battery over-much, so that is why the fan does not spin-up.
Pros: Has great battery life and comes with a USB connection (yay!). The older models require a serial port connection and I just recently purchased a motherboard with no serial ports. This thing runs pretty quiet. I also like the digital readout instead of a couple rows of indecipherable LEDs. So far it has worked flawlessly, informing me only once (via email) that I had an "extended over-voltage" occurrence.
Cons: Unfortunately, I all but forgot about the outlet placement on these newer models. All the outlets are right next to each other in two rows. They are also lined up all in the same direction. This makes it almost impossible to fit more than one or two AC adapters on this thing without losing the use of most of the other outlets. It is also very heavy, but you definitely get what you pay for. Weight is a con, but it wouldn't work worth a darn if it wasn't this heavy with...
Summary: REAL issue N.E. shipping APC to us with batteries hooked up. and also in a beatup box with NO factory packing. And was not in the clear protective plastic bag. they had a 50 pound APC in a homemade box with only crushed brown paper. Of coasre the APC arrived damaged and not usable. This is totally uncalled for on N. E. part. At least they answered phone on a Saturday to fix the issue, and say it is going to take 5 days. so my server has to sit a week because of N.E.
Pros: Great APC battery backup
Cons: APC packing for this heavy of an APC little on the light side. just update firmware
