Solid Product / Good Reputable Company

12 May 2014
  • Excerpt: This was purchased to proved power backup for several network devices (routers, switches, modem etc.). As a whole, the devices do not draw a lot of power when the UPS is off-line. I expect that this UPS has more then sufficient capacity for this job-upwards of 40 minutes at it's present load. The IP presence of the UPS is a nice plus, one can see what it is up to remotely.
  • Pros: Easy To Install, Good Value, Quiet, Reliable

Great bang for the buck

  • Excerpt: This is one of the few UPS battery backup units out there with IP capability (web interface and integration) at this price point. I use these in conjunction with Home Automation systems and it allows me to real time monitor power state, low battery level, etc. from my automation systems. My automation systems can then send out auto notifications (emails, texts, etc.) based upon the APC's state.
  • Pros: Easy To Install, Good Value, Highly Compatible, Integratable, Quiet, Reliable
  • Cons: Needs more form factors

Great network UPS

  • Excerpt: I have been using these units for years in several network applications. Not a single one has failed, and the ability to log in remotely and electrically reset devices through the IP controllable power outlets has been very useful. At home I use this with a DSL modem, 24-port switch, 8-port switch, 2 wireless access point, and a fire wall. And the run time is about 1 hour according to the web interface.

  • Summary: This device is what I use to power a router, switch and/or access point in two remote offices. I can access all of the network devices and even make changes to the UPS remotely. It makes my life easier and saves me a trip to the data closets 20 miles away.

Solved the Problem

AAA, APC
10 April 2010
  • Summary: Using APC HS500 to backup the Verizon FIOS system consisting of internet, TV and phone. We live in an area that has frequent brown-outs and occasional black-outs of 1 hour or less. This UPS provides the needed power to bridge the outages and keep the communications system operating. The included control software works well and allows you to remotely monitor and adjust the UPS settings via the home network.

Perfect purchase; perfect product

APCfanboy, APC
17 March 2010
  • Summary: This model performs exactly as expected and fits perfectly where I have it mounted on the wall in my communications closet. Please note, this device is NOT for PC backup. I use this to power my cable modem, wireless router, CAT5e 8 port hub, two external hard drives, and an Airport Extreme. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
