User Review

Mike W., Newegg
13 May 2015
  • Pros: Works well so far. (I have had good results from other APC UPS products and do not expect any problems with this) Battery is relatively inexpensive and easy to change. Runs cool; uses little power when idle.
  • Cons: Did not come with software. PowerChute software version 3 which is available online requires administrator privileges and does not display correctly unless defaults theme and/or DPI settings are used. Use PowerChute version 2.0 if you have it. (works with Windows 7)

software support difficult to get

Matt L., Newegg
5 May 2015
  • Pros: Common battery type. Should make replacement easy. Tech support was polite and responsive.
  • Cons: The required PowerChute software was not included in box. The APC FTP server refused to download the installer (always timed-out). I had to contact tech support to get a personal link to a dropbox site. On my first test, the UPS put the system into Hibernate. After resuming, the UPS spontaneously...

APC BE650G1 is a Good UPS

RONALD I., Newegg
5 March 2015
  • Summary: I've owned APC products for 10 years, and have always enjoyed the piece of mind their well built products afford.
  • Pros: It's compact, powerful, it's made by APC (Schneider Electric), and is perfect for PC / HS applications.
  • Cons: Neither the hardware nor software shows you the wattage pull of your connected items. But I knew that going in so no eggs-off. No provision for email notification. But if it does it's job who needs another email anyway. So I guess there's no real cons with this unit. Oh ya, the PowerChute softwar...

Great Product

Eric D., Newegg
25 October 2014
  • Summary: If you don't want it to beep incessantly when the power goes out be sure to use the software to disable before it happens.
  • Pros: Keeps lower power electronics running for a long time when the power goes out. (Like wi-fi and cable modem -- clutch) Provides uninterrupted, quality electricity to power hungry devices when the lights flicker. Can be made completely silent.
  • Cons: Can only turn off the 'no power' beeping by connecting a computer to it. Will eventually have to replace the battery.

Excellent value

DGK, APC
18 October 2014
  • Summary: This item arrived in great shape. The box was large enough to return my old unit(much taller) for the exchange program, and the unit has functioned just fine since I attached all my hardware. Thanks

As expected, good UPS

Rod M., Newegg
29 August 2014
  • Summary: Having PC's ranging from k2600K, OC'd to 4.4GHz with SLI video to H77 chipset boards using built in graphics, using the BF750G to determine the draw from each PC at max performance was a real eye opener.
  • Pros: Having had the BE750G and 3 BE550G UPS units, when I was in the market for another, I decided to get this BE650G1 while on sale. Even thought none of these are true sine wave UPS, I only have Corsair and Cooler Master PSU's, and they all work flawlessly with these UPS models. Try taking an active...
  • Cons: Unlike the BE750G, the 550 and 650 will not report the wattage draw from the attached equipment. Not really a con, just a nice feature that is on the 750 when using the power chute software. Personally, I don't care for the power chute software and let Windows take control. If you have installed ...

just an FYI

Rod M., Newegg
25 August 2014
  • Pros: To anonymous: Your con is a direct indication that the battery is failing in the UPS in whish you thought the copier was causing some sort of issue. What is actually happening, with the copier causing a bit of a brown out, so to speak, your UPS is switching to battery, your battery is no longer c...

Not totally happy

RMacDaddy, APC
11 August 2014
  • Summary: I was disappointed that this UPS had no software support for an iMac. The unit works great but I was use to the software telling me if I had a problem when I had a PC. Shipping was very slow also, that needs improvement.

Solid battery backup for PC

Sean D., Newegg
25 July 2014
  • Summary: We have dozens of these, and no plans to move away from APC for our battery backups. They're good, reliable battery backup units.
  • Pros: We have these throughout our office areas to give employees a chance to save their work in the event of an outage. APC has been solidly reliable for years now on several different models of UPS, including these. Like the extra outlet that is offset for large AC adapters. Has four plugs for batter...
  • Cons: We had an issue where a desktop was plugged into a new BE650G1 and it kept shutting down when a copier on the same circuit (but different outlet) started printing. The backup was audibly cutting in appropriately, but the computer still shut down. It was eventually determined that unplugging the U...
