Pros: Great power supply! I have been using this HCG power supply for 3 years and it's still going strong. I have had my fair share of power supply failures and it's nice to have the dependability of this Antec HCG series PS.
Summary: Bought two of these for backup servers. the 1st one I installed had the ticking problem. Not going to waste more money to ship will fix myself with spare fan I have laying around, when I need it. 2nd PSU seems to be working ok so far.
Summary: I think most people over-buy on their PSU these days. Crack open any mass-produced pc brand and you'll find shockingly low wattages with no problems. Newer processors, ssds, and (some) lower-wattage video cards mean you don't need 1000W to get great performance anymore.
Pros: Has run my i5-3570 rig with a Sapphire 6870 without any problems. I wouldn't SLI with it, but I prefer a decent PSU at lower wattage to a higher wattage off-brand PSU any day. It also helps that I got this one dirt cheap after a sale and a rebate.
Summary: figure I would go with this instead of seasonic; first psu that had a bad fan; used to use antec a lot but I think maybe I shoudl just pay a little more and find something better built. I mean fans are cheap at the oem level no real reason not to use a high quality fan.
Pros: Cheapish (not really)
Cons: Fan very loud clicking after 2 years. Have to replace the unit the fan is so bloody annoying.
