Antec EarthWatts EA-380D Green Power Supply

  • Excerpt: This is a great budget power supply even if it doesn't provide a ton of energy. This model produces 380W of energy which is enough for a motherboard, a drive or two, and maybe an older video card. Just about anything else will require a more powerful model. If you need a power supply with real clout, then this is definitely not a good fit for your system. Antec does offer more powerful EarthWatts models, but they cost more money.

  • Conclusion: There's certainly an emphasis on reducing power use and costs these days, with some governments pushing legislation to penalize companies that don't at least give some attention to the environment. Antec has worked hard to promote the image of a "green" and environmentally friendly PSU with their updated EarthWatts line—even going so far as to put green in the name and give it a dark green paint job!

The TruePower New series has a rebate or is on sale at some places, so if you’re interested, look now.

Antec EarthWatts 500 W Power Supply Review

Hardware Secrets
18 February 2008
  • Summary: Antec EarthWatts 500 W provides one of the best cost/benefit ratios for the average user: it is a relatively cheap 500 W power supply that can deliver up to 577 W at 46° C, has high efficiency (between 84% and 85% if you pull up to 300 W; 82.1% if you pull 400 W; but drops to 79.8% if you pull the full 500 W from it - it is clearly not a power supply to be working at 500 W but it is an excellent product for the average user with a mainstream PC), very low electrical...
