Excerpt: As a computer tech, I often run into the issue of a dead power supply in desktops. Well, it happens often enough that I am grateful that Staples (which is geographically close to me) still carries what most would think of old fashioned parts that no one could possibly want anymore in our world of laptops, netbooks, tablets etc. This product always does the job and makes me and my clients happy.
Excerpt: I actually used this power supply in a Nortel BCM 450. The BCM 450 is a phone system but is an ATX form factor. The standard power supplies from Nortel are known for failing, however this power supply seems to be working better than the original.
Summary: After the POS PSU died in my HP, I did some serious research and then ordered this. It fit and worked perfectly. Isn't it strange that the power supply in my 25 year old Tandy still works fine, but the supplies in new computers go belly up inside of a year. Maybe all of them don't, but the last three I've had did. It's outrageous, but America wants cheap, so we get cheap and shoddy. Maybe I'll get a couple more years with this one.
Excerpt: We had a power outage and when it came back on one of my pcs would not start up. Called HP and talked to 3 different people to try and find out what to do. No help at all and suggested it was too old and should buy another pc. Then went to staples where I bought my pc"s and talked to them. They said it was possible the power supply was knocked out and to find out how many watts my supply was and they could match me up with the right one.
Excerpt: In laws PC would start sometimes then shut down, and sometimes not start at all. Narrowed down issue to most likely the power supply. Bought this generic model and it saved the day. Standard size and shape, common connectors and less than 30 minutes from opening the PC to closing up and restarting. All is well at 2 plus weeks.
Summary: So far it has been running very quietly, even when playing games. Using a gtx 750 ti which is low power however. Can't comment on the sound or performance under demanding conditions. Since it's only 350w, I would probably need to replace this if I wanted to upgrade. Perfectly fine for a simple or low-power build.
