Summary: This is my second ICF-SW7600GR radio. The first one I bought for use at my weekend cabin where I don't have TV or even telephone for internet, so I use the Sony to listen to baseball and football games during the day, and surf mostly the ham bands at night.
Summary: I'd had looked everywhere for this radio and I finally found it. My Dad is 69 with a vision problem. Digital radios were not an option for him; too complicated and small. He loves to listen to local and international news that's why the radio had to be short wave.
Summary: I have had this radio for about 18 months but I am looking for another as it just doesn't live up to Sony's old standards. The batteries run out very quickly; the VHF reception is poor; the tuning is fiddly and the display does not match the true wavebands.
Summary: This radio is very basic in design and intended to be tuned manually, then just listened to. That is fine, however: 1- the tuning dial does not contrast well with the numbers below, 2- there is no backlighting offered to assist in seeing the dial numbers clearly.
Summary: This radio is a great deal for the money. It is one of the few quality analog shortwave radios that is still available. Build quality is excellent as is the norm with most Sony products. I am an avid shortwave listener and I have picked up stations from all over the world with this little radio.
