Excerpt: It has been a while since the last time I reviewed a radio and I didn’t think I would have to get one had I not misplaced the rather handy and long lasting Panasonic “RFP50-EGS” hand sized radio last year. Although it is silver in colour, the size can be quite difficult to find after putting it down and I have yet to find it, after using it in my garden. I remember taking it back into my home, but where it went after that I am not sure!
Summary: Ok, so perhaps not a use the designer or manufacturer was expecting but I brought a couple of these to use in a couple of poultry sheds. The little feathered darlings get to listen to Radio 2 all day long. In that setting the battery life is a little short (just under two days or about 30 hours I guess). They are well made for the price and batteries (2 AA size) are easily changeable. Sound quality is about what you would expect.
Summary: My third purchase of this model. One I lost. My second one was dropped, not for the first time, badly damaged but refuses to die. Just has tuning issues. Had it so long anyway, I thought I deserved a new one. Good sound, batteries last ages and it never wanders off the station. What more do you want?
Excerpt: Over the past few years my daughters interest in pop music has grown, she loves watching all the latest music videos and she has an ever growing collection of CDs. She especially loved listening to the radio in the car during the school run, she moved school last year and now gets picked up from the house in a school bus so is no longer able to listen to her favourite station.
Summary: I bought two of these and was initially pleased but then the first radio developed a fault within a year whereby the volume switch no longer worked properly at low volumes and just sounded of loud crackling interference. I returned the product still in warranty and received a new one from Sony however within a year both radios again developed the same fault.
Summary: This is my second Sony portable radio and it too has failed in exacly the same way as the first one. The volume control is faulty and malfunctions pushing the volume up to full blast . Rubbish. Dont go there.
