Summary: I'm a talk radio junkie, so when a local station dropped a favorite host, we needed a reliable way to listen through another affiliate. We got even more than we bargained for! This little box really does the job and opens up a whole new world of listening! Sound quality is very good thanks to a set of ample speakers and an audio amplifier that has some punch. To save space the speakers are side mounted, so the stereo affect is useless unless using headphones.
Summary: Others who are more technically qualified have reviewed this radio. I have found it to be functional and reliable. It occasionally loses the signal from my wireless modem but reconnects with the press of a button. The sound is quite adequate for a small box tuner with a small speaker. I wish that it were easier to navigate between stations but once I found my favorites, that became a negligible problem.
Summary: I have owned this radio for about 6 months now. It allows one to listen to almost all the radio stations from all over the world. The large data of radio stations is maintained by Reciva.com. When you turn the dial, it lists the Radio stations by Country or Genre. It is easy to switch from one station to another with the use of the dial. Drawbacks: 1.It has 8 favorite stations (buttons) but because of the huge number of stations available, 8 is not enough.
Summary: I traded a Grace internet radio for the Sanyo. The Grace had reception problems. No problems with the Sanyo. It works fine. The audio quality is a bit tinny. Overall, this is a nice radio. I also like that it gets local FM stations.
Stay away from this radio or hope it never needs service!

Summary: I bought this radio a little over a year ago and it worked fine until last week when it suddenly stopped working and the screen just flashes on and off every couple of seconds. I wrote an email to Sanyo to get an idea if they would help with the problem and there solution was, since it was past the 90 day warranty, I could return the radio to them ( at my expense ) and they would, for a flat rate of $150.00 fix it and return it to me.
Summary: Like most reviewers we really like this radio. It's about the same size as table radios from the '50s and has a solid, heavy feel. Construction and cabinet quality are top notch. Audio quality is about all you can expect from this size but it has a jack to connect it to a better sound system. Being able to set up a list of favorite stations on the Reciva site and having them display on the radio is a really nice feature. The bad is the display lighting.
Summary: Comments about Sanyo R227 Internet Radio: Sounds good for small radio. Initial setup was quick. Everything after was a major pain. Would not allow me to change anything after setup. Factory reset does not work. Warranty is only for 90 days. Firmware upgrades are non-existent.
Totally dissatisfied with this product and support service

Summary: I can't remember when I've been so dissatisfied with a purchase. After trying everything, it would not hook up to my Wifi connection. After a 55 minute hold waiting to talk to Sanyo customer service, I was informed that they could not help with audio and that I should go to reciva's website to get information and to see if they could help me. I sent 4 emails last week and still have not heard a response from them, although they say they will respond in 24 hours.
Summary: Do not waste your money on this outdated junk. Go for the Squeeze Box - apple technology. Sanyo does not provide update firmware and has completely abandoned its service with Recevia (the company that provides online radio stations). This is nothing more than WIFI by smoke signals.
Summary: I absolutely loved this radio. Very good sound quality with excellent volume and base. Even set to the loudest setting, the sound was pretty clear. The interface was a bit primitive; however, using Recieva.com, it was pretty easy to find and add stations I wanted. The presets made it convenient to use. Now the bad news. I left on a trip last week and came home to a radio in a continual reboot cycle.
